Forgive4Health Ministries

Forgive4Health Ministries Forgive for Health Ministries exists to help people to forgive and to live with a forgiving heart. We can help you find answers to these questions.

Forgiveness is defined as the act of deliberately giving up resentment toward someone who offended you, while fostering the undeserved qualities of goodwill and compassion towards that person. Forgiveness is important as it is associated with improved spiritual, physical, and mental health. Forgiveness offers many benefits including improved sleep, increased energy, and greater life satisfacti

on. People who choose to forgive also report less physical illness symptoms, lower medication use, less fatigue, and a reduced fear of dying. So, have you ever wondered if you have forgiven someone that hurt you? Or thought that your compromised health could be linked to past hurtful experiences? Whether in your marriage, family, workplace, church, or community group, we know that harboring unforgiveness can ruin your health. But how does one forgive , forget, and move on? I am glad you ask! Forgive for Health Ministries exists to help individuals through the forgiveness process and can help you know without a doubt that you have forgiven those who have hurt you . We can objectively assess your level of forgives using evidence-based instruments, pray with you through the journey to forgiveness, walk with you through the steps to forgiveness and refer you as needed to other professionals who can help you complete the cycle of forgiveness. Give us a call at 404-500-9204 or email us at [email protected] to get started on this journey.

Forgiveness Is More Than a Feeling—It's a Health Strategy!

Did you know that forgiveness may improve more than your relationships?

Research continues to show that people who are more forgiving tend to experience lower levels of depression, anxiety, anger, and chronic stress. New findings from the Global Flourishing Study suggest that human flourishing is strongly connected to physical health, mental health, meaning and purpose, character, relationships, and financial stability. Forgiveness supports several of these key areas.

Three ways to increase your forgiveness score this week:
✅ Identify one lingering hurt you are ready to release.
✅ Write a letter expressing your feelings (you don't have to send it).
✅ Replace "Why did this happen to me?" with "How can I grow from this?"
When we release resentment, we create space for healing.
Register today for our 9th annul forgiveness, population health and equity conference to learn more.
Hope to see you online soon!

07/30/2026

Colleagues,

The risk factors for heart disease listed above apply to everyone, and it’s easy to see why heart and blood vessel disease is the leading cause of death among all racial and ethnic groups in the United States. However, heart disease risk disproportionately affects black people because of the communities in which they live. Residential segregation is still a problem in many areas of the country, contributing to this public health issue.

According to a study published by the American Journal of Kidney Diseases (AJKD), African American communities suffer from many social and environmental determinants that put their residents at higher risk of coronary artery disease, blood vessel disease, high blood pressure, sudden cardiac arrest, and other heart-related medical conditions.

Social Contributors

Most African American communities in the United States are poorer than those comprised mostly of non-Hispanic white residents. While poverty rates are improving, according to the 2019 census, residential segregation still causes black communities to remain poorer. Housing policies have encouraged residential segregation into the present day, keeping these communities largely isolated, with low-quality housing, fewer adequate job opportunities, and restricted access to education.

With lower incomes, African populations are less likely to have health insurance, making it more challenging to receive the routine medical care that would help prevent heart disease or the health conditions that are risk factors for it. Residents in these communities may not be aware of the importance of health care or where to find it. They may not receive proper health education in their local schools or drop out of school before learning about their health or the community resources available to them.

Environmental Contributors

Black communities also have higher heart disease rates because of environmental factors. Less funding for health care and other resources for their residents means higher rates of developing heart disease later in life but also congenital heart defects in newborns. However, pollution in low-income areas also affects many health conditions. The Harvard School of Public Health reports that racial and ethnic groups are much more likely to be exposed to air pollution, leading to respiratory illnesses and many other related health conditions.

Because lack of exercise and obesity are significant risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease, black African American communities become health hazards in several ways. Without funding, these areas rarely have adequate access to green spaces, safe public parks, and properly maintained walking paths. Most neighborhoods don’t have community centers that offer a gym or scheduled meetings for exercise and other social activities. Those with a center often lack funding to maintain the building or equipment. Neighborhood violence is, in itself, a public health concern, but it adds to heart health risks due to the added stress on the residents of these communities.

The Gut, Trauma, Anger, and Forgiveness: Healing from the Inside Out

Have you ever noticed that emotional pain doesn't just stay in your mind, it settles in your body? Many people describe "gut-wrenching" experiences, "butterflies" before a difficult conversation, or feeling "sick to their stomach" after conflict. These expressions reflect a real connection between our emotional and physical health.

Scientists now recognize the powerful communication between the brain and the gut, often called the gut-brain axis. This two-way system allows our thoughts, emotions, immune system, and digestive tract to influence one another. When we experience trauma or chronic stress, our nervous system can remain on high alert. Over time, this may contribute to digestive symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits, or increased sensitivity to certain foods.

Anger is another emotion that deserves attention. Anger itself is not unhealthy, it's a normal human response that can alert us to injustice, hurt, or unmet needs. The challenge arises when anger becomes chronic, suppressed, or overwhelming. Living in a constant state of emotional tension can increase stress hormones, disrupt sleep, and affect digestion and overall well-being.

This is where forgiveness enters the conversation. Forgiveness is often misunderstood. It does not mean excusing harmful behavior, forgetting what happened, or abandoning healthy boundaries. Instead, forgiveness is a process of releasing the grip that resentment and unresolved pain can have on our lives. It is a choice to stop allowing past injuries to dictate our present emotional and physical health.

Research suggests that people who cultivate forgiveness often report lower stress, reduced anxiety, improved emotional well-being, and healthier relationships. While forgiveness is not a cure for digestive disorders or trauma, it can be one important piece of a comprehensive healing journey that may also include therapy, medical care, nutrition, movement, supportive relationships, and mindfulness practices.

Healing is rarely about addressing one part of ourselves. The mind, body, and spirit are interconnected. Caring for your gut health while also processing trauma, learning healthy ways to express anger, and exploring forgiveness can create opportunities for greater resilience and overall wellness.

If this topic resonates with you, consider taking one small step today. Reflect on where stress or unresolved hurt may be showing up in your body, and don't hesitate to seek support if you need it. Healing doesn't happen overnight, but every intentional step matters.

06/19/2026

Today, we pause to honor Juneteenth—a day that recognizes resilience, celebrates progress, and reminds us that freedom is one of America's greatest responsibilities. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is one of America's greatest responsibilities. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free. This day came to be known as Juneteenth — a time to celebrate, gather as a family, reflect on the past, and look to the future.

Juneteenth is recognized as the nation’s second Independence Day, celebrated primarily within the African American community but largely unknown to many Americans. In 2021, Juneteenth was established as a federal holiday, opening it to symbolic and global interpretation and providing a better understanding of the evolution of our nation and its people. Juneteenth celebrations, then and now, recognize the ongoing fight for human rights and equality and are commemorated through family cookouts, faith services, musical performances, and storytelling.
Happy Juneteenth, everyone!

Here at Forgive for Health Ministries, Inc., we offer many ways to help you on your forgiveness journey and always pause to celebrate important days, such as Juneteenth. We covet your continued prayers and support for our programs and initiatives throughout the year.

Father’s Day: Encouragement for Fathers Who May Be Carrying More Than They Say

Father’s Day can be joyful, meaningful, and deeply reflective. For many fathers, it is a day filled with gratitude—family gatherings, laughter, cards from children, and reminders of the important role fathers play in shaping homes and communities. Fathers often provide love, wisdom, protection, discipline, encouragement, and a steady presence.

But Father’s Day can also feel heavy. Some fathers are carrying stress related to finances, health, caregiving, work responsibilities, parenting challenges, divorce, grief, loneliness, or disappointment. Some are navigating strained relationships with children. Others may be grieving the loss of a father or struggling with wounds from their own childhood while trying to parent differently.

Many fathers carry burdens quietly. They continue showing up for others while feeling emotionally exhausted themselves. They may feel pressure to remain strong, fix every problem, or avoid asking for help. Yet fathers need care too. They need support, rest, meaningful relationships, and space to be honest about what they are carrying.
Healthy fathers matter. A father’s emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental health can influence not only his own well-being, but also the health of his family and community. When fathers are supported, families often experience stronger connections, healthier communication, and greater stability.

Faith reminds us that fathers do not have to carry life’s weight alone.

Psalm 103:13 says: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”
God models compassion, patience, and faithful love.

Joshua 1:9 reminds us: “Be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Strength does not mean pretending everything is fine. Sometimes courage looks like praying honestly. Sometimes it looks like resting. Sometimes it looks like asking for help.

Galatians 6:2 encourages us: “Carry each other’s burdens…”
Fathers deserve a supportive community, too.

This Father’s Day, whether a father feels joyful, overwhelmed, hopeful, or weary, may he know this:
He matters. His health matters. His presence matters. His healing matters.
And God sees him fully—with grace, compassion, and strength for the road ahead.
Happy Father’s Day to fathers, grandfathers, mentors, spiritual fathers, and every man faithfully helping lead and love the next generation.
Fathers, we are here to support you all year long. Join us for any of our events.
