I understand the depths of despair and frustration that can come from being in a marriage that seems to have lost its way. Believe me when I say, I’ve been there. My husband and I—once the couple who appeared to have it all together—found ourselves on the brink of separation. I vividly recall planning my exit strategy, determined to endure just one more holiday season for the sake of my children. At that time, the distance between us felt insurmountable, and trust had eroded to the point where faithfulness was questioned on both sides. We were fighting, constantly at odds, and it felt like our marriage had run its course.
But what I didn't realize at that time was that we were both standing on the edge of a miracle. Now, with over 28 years of marriage behind us, I can say without hesitation that staying was the best decision we ever made. We didn’t just survive—we thrived. We not only love each other deeply, but we genuinely like each other. And that change didn’t come solely from our own strength. It came because we surrendered our marriage to God and allowed Him to do the impossible in us.
We didn’t do it alone. We had help from our pastors and church leaders who walked with us through our darkest times. They supported us, encouraged us, and held us accountable. We were surrounded by a church that believed in the power of family and marriage, and being in that atmosphere of hope, commitment, and renewal transformed us. We needed the community, the prayers, and the constant reminder that God can restore what seems broken beyond repair.
