Progressive Community Church

Progressive Community Church We are a Bible-teaching, Spirit-led church body located in Stockton, CA. THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE

1. ABOUT GOD
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe.
(289)

He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14)

2. ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus Christ was miraculously conceived and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless

human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose bodily from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; Luke 1:42; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; I Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13)

3. ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. (II Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18; Galatians 5:25)

4. ABOUT THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any error. (II Timothy 1:13, 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 12:6; 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5)

5. ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude that separates people from God and causes many problems in life. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a, 59:1-2; Romans 3:23)

6. ABOUT SALVATION
Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offering of forgiveness, can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (Romans 5:1, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12, 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26)

On this , Jesus reminds us that He is the source of everything we need. Our strength, peace, growth, and joy are all found in Him. What a blessing it is to know that we don't have to strive for purpose or chase fulfillment. When we remain in Christ, He faithfully sustains us. 🙌

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete."
John 15:11

Today, we're thankful for the joy that comes from staying connected to Jesus.

How Can We Pray For You?
One of the greatest ways we remain connected to the Vine is through prayer. In seasons of growth, pruning, uncertainty, or joy, we were never meant to walk through life alone.
No burden is too heavy. No prayer is too small. No season is too complicated for God.

How can we pray for you today? ⬇️
You can also submit a prayer request through our Prayer Ministry. We would be honored to pray with you and for you. 🙏💛

Would you still love God if the blessing looked different than you expected?
It's easy to praise God when prayers are answered, doors are opening, and life is going according to plan. But true love for God is revealed when life becomes difficult.
Sometimes suffering isn't punishment. Sometimes it's refinement.
God uses uncomfortable seasons to expose what our hearts are truly attached to and to deepen our devotion to Him.

The question isn't, "Do I love what God gives me?"
The question is, "Do I love God for who He is?" 🙏

Today, remember that God never called us to produce fruit on our own.
In a world that tells us to hustle harder and do more, Jesus gives us a different invitation: "Abide in Him".
When we stay connected to Christ, He gives us the strength, wisdom, and peace we need to grow through every season. So, don't focus on becoming more fruitful this week. Focus on staying connected to the Vine. The fruit will follow. 🍊

What if God is reducing something in your life so He can increase something greater? 🌱
We often pray for more, but sometimes God's first step is subtraction. Before there is greater fruit, there is pruning. Before there is an increase, there is refinement.

What feels like loss today may actually be preparation for tomorrow. The Gardener knows what the branch needs, even when the branch doesn't understand the process.

What has God removed from your life that later proved to be a blessing?

On this , we're grateful that we don't have to do life on our own. 🙏
Jesus reminds us that He is the vine and we are the branches. Every blessing, every step of growth, every answered prayer, and every bit of fruit in our lives is possible because of our connection to Him.
What a gift it is to know that we are sustained, strengthened, and supported by Christ every day.

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit..."
John 15:5

Today, we're thankful for the privilege of abiding in Him and the grace that keeps us connected.
And that's why we're thankful. ✨

What if the thing God is removing is making room for something greater? 🌱
Pruning doesn't always make sense while it's happening. It can feel painful, confusing, and even unfair. But the Gardener sees what the branch cannot.

Every cut has a purpose. Every removal has a reason. Every season of pruning is preparing you for greater fruitfulness.
When we surrender to God's process and trust His wisdom, we discover that what felt like loss was actually love at work.

Looking back, has God ever removed something from your life that ultimately helped you grow?

On this , remember that not every loss is a setback and not every season of cutting back is punishment. 🌱
Sometimes God removes things from our lives so we can grow stronger, deeper, and more fruitful. What feels like pruning today may be preparation for a greater purpose tomorrow.
Stay connected to the Vine. Trust the Gardener. The process may be uncomfortable, but growth is coming. 🙏✨
