June 13, 2026 ~ Verse of The Day: Isaiah 3:12

Although there are many prophetic passages that pronounce the punishment and terrible tribulation which Israel must one day experience because of their unbelief, there are also many sections in Scripture which speak of the blessings which God has promised His chosen nation, and the cleansing through which they must pass - but first they must turn from their sin and return to the God of their fathers.
The Lord chose Israel to be His own special nation, and although there was always a remnant of righteous men and women who believed God and obeyed His instructions, the majority were led astray and followed after the idolatrous practices of the pagan nations that surrounded them.
It was not only the people who were forsaking the way of the Lord, but the leaders of Israel and those that had authority over them. They ignored the Word of God and led the people astray by engaging in pagan practices themselves, which turned the hearts of the people away from the Lord their God and brought condemnation down on their head.
Those who should have been guiding the people to follow after truth, were equally guilty of apostasy. The rulers who should have taught the people to do what is good and to avoid the evil, were the very ones who were leading the people astray and turning God's chosen nation away from the true and living way.
What grief this caused the Lord Who had brought them out of the land of Egypt and cut a covenant with them at Mount Sinai - that THEY would be His people and HE would be their God: "O My people!" was the Lords plaintive cry, "Their oppressors are children. Their women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray, and confuse the direction of your paths."
"All that the Lord has said, we will do," was the collective cry of God's holy people, centuries before, but instead of following the way of the Lord and obeying His commands, they brought the justified wrath of God down upon their heads. Those that should have guided the people to follow the Lord were the very ones that lead the people into apostasy and idolatry!
They did not bring up their children to meditate on the Law of the Lord, and rejected the headship of men within their individual families and in their collective worship. The leaders of the nation did not teach the people to carry out the things that were ordained by God. Children were allowed to become unruly and insubordinate while women influenced their husbands away from the Law of the Lord.
The judgements of God are always fair and altogether righteous and He knew that the failure of the nation's leaders to teach the Word of truth to the people of God would result in curses being poured out on His disobedient and errant nation, instead of the blessings the Lord desired to give them. The pain of this shocking situation grieved the Lord and was reflected in His lament, "O My people! Their oppressors are children, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray, and confuse the direction of your paths."
How we pray that Christian leaders in this post-Cross, Church age, do not fall into the same foolish ways as the leaders of pre-Cross Israel who allowed children and young people to oppress them and permitted feminism and similar ungodly practices to infiltrate the God-ordained structure in their homes and their meeting places. Oh, that the Church of Christ would learn the lesson from Israel's failure and not stray from the Word of God.

How important it is to KNOW the Word of God so that we are not led astray by false teachers, doctrines of demons, liberal leaders, and the worldly philosophies and practices of this modern, ungodly culture.

My Prayer
Heavenly Father, as I see the influence that pagan beliefs, idolatrous practices, worldly philosophies, women’s lib, and other unbiblical practices have on the Church today, I pray that You would stir up Christian leaders to stand firm on the Word of God. Please help the people of God to study to show themselves approved unto Him so that we do not fall into the terrible trap into which Israel fell, when children oppressed the people by dictating their own rules, and when the sanctity of family life was overturned by worldly philosophies and pagan practices. Lord, as I see the same ungodly worldview flooding the earth today, keep me low at the Cross and broken before You, and may I live my life according to Your will and Your way. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

June 12, 2026 ~ Verse of The Day: Isaiah 1:18

From their escape out of Egypt and throughout their long history, the children of Israel rebelled against the Lord. Isaiah was one of many prophets of God who was inspired to record their gross idolatry and ungodly ways and to express God's bitter indictment of His chosen nation. And yet he also wrote of God's long-suffering patience, His loving-kindness, and His never-failing tender-mercy towards His errant people.
Israel was guilty on all counts and described by this prophet of God as a sinful nation who broke their covenant with the Lord. He labeled them a brood of evil-doers, depraved children and a people weighed down with iniquity. He described them as being sick from the soles of their feet to the tops of their head and infested with wounds, bruises and putrefying sores. He likened them to the depraved people of S***m and Gomorrah and pronounced God's stern judgement upon them all.
But he also wrote of a small remnant; a few survivors who trusted their God and found grace in the eyes of the Lord. And throughout the book of Isaiah, we hear an ongoing call to repentance and a plea to turn from their wicked ways and to learn to do good. Isaiah implored them to seek after justice, to reprove the ruthless, to defend the orphan, and to plead for the widow.
Despite their apostasy, God continued to offer His people complete forgiveness and restoration if they would simply return to Him and renounce their wicked ways. He entreats His people to repent of their sins and wash themselves in His cleansing flood: "'Come now, and let us reason together,' says the LORD, 'Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.'"
An inner cleansing of the heart and mind is what the Lord desires of all His people, which should be reflected in outward deeds of righteousness and social justice. They were not to reason with the Lord by defending their behavior and arguing their innocence, but were to admit that His ways are perfect, good, and righteous altogether.
Like most of the Old Testament, Isaiah is written towards Israel as a nation. But all Scripture is for our learning and there is much that Christians in the Body of Christ can learn from Isaiah, much that we should avoid, and much that we should apply in our everyday lives.
Trusting God's Word, acknowledging their sin, admitting their guilt, renouncing their idolatry, repenting of their evil ways, and turning from their ungodliness had to precede God's purifying and cleansing for Israel. Likewise, as Christians we have to admit our guilt, renounce our idolatry, repent, and recognize that we are sinners who need a Savior so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection we may be cleansed of our wicked ways, forgiven of our sin, washed in His precious blood, declared righteous in the eyes of our heavenly Father, and live a life that is holy unto the Lord.

My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the way that You have used Israel as an example of the importance of purifying our hearts and learning all that You want to teach us as we journey through life. I pray that I may shun evil, denounce those things that dishonor Your name, and live godly in Christ Jesus, Who is my life and my salvation, and in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

June 11, 2026 ~ Verse of The Day: Isaiah 1:9

Much Old Testament writing pronounces judgement on apostate Israel and the surrounding pagan nations. But it also declares many gracious promises of restoration and renewal for the tiny body of Israelite believers who faithfully maintain their trust in God's Word and hold fast to their hope in Him.
The first chapter of Isaiah, makes some very serious accusations against unbelieving Israel because of their utter failure to adhere to the Mosaic Covenant over centuries of time, and it details the serious, divine judgement that will one day fall upon God's people.
The heavens and earth are called to hearken to God's complaint against His errant nation, whom Isaiah describes as: "A people laden with iniquity" and "a brood of evildoers." They have forsaken the Lord, turned away from His path, sinned greatly, and provoked Him to anger.
God accuses them of being a rebellious people who are sick from the top of their head to the sole of the foot, and that there is nothing wholesome in them, for they are covered with "wounds, bruises, and putrefying sores." Sadly, God's people made no attempt to rectify this shocking situation, despite God's fierce anger against them.
It is unlikely that God could have offered a more gross or loathsome condemnation of His people than the accusations He levied in this first chapter of Isaiah. However, we also have the most beautiful glimpse of God's grace and glory shining through, as He pleads with His people to come and reason with Him.
Their disgusting behavior and rank disobedience was so monstrous that God had to withhold His blessings from His people so that their land lay desolate, their cities were besieged, and their pasture was burned with fire. They had started to act in a manner that reflected the practices of the wicked cities that God destroyed with fire and brimstone.
Instead of Israel being a dignified and distinguished people, they are described by Isaiah as being like a gaunt vagabond left standing in a pile of rubbish: "Like a watchman's hut in a cucumber field!" Like the leaders of S***m, Gomorrah, and other pagan cities that were destroyed, God's people had deteriorated into offering religious sacrifices without a heart that was open and obedient toward the Lord.
Had it not been for the long-suffering mercy and grace of God, the entire nations would have disintegrated into a most perverse and immoral people: "Unless the LORD of hosts had left us a few survivors," is the shocking conclusion, "Israel would be like S***m, and would have become like Gomorrah."
As we reflect on the depraved state of the world today and the shockingly apostate condition of Christendom, we have to acknowledge that we are also living in perilous times: "When men are lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal people, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, yet denying its power."

We are instructed to avoid such men as these, to trust in the Lord with all our heart, and hold fast to that which is good. May we take heed of the depths to which Israel fell and be diligent to be found by Him in peace. May we endeavour to be blameless before the Lord so that we may present ourselves approved to God as workmen who do not need to be ashamed, when we finally stand before Him.

My Prayer
Heavenly Father, as I read through Your Word, I realize how quickly and easily a man of God or a woman of faith can become derailed when they begin to follow the things of this world. Keep me low at the Cross, broken before You, and teach me the lessons You would have me learn from Your righteous dealings with Israel. Thank You that in Your grace, You still maintain a tiny remnant of believers that do not stray from the path of peace but stand firm on the Word of truth. I pray that I too may be counted among the remnant. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

June 10, 2026 ~ Verse of The Day: Isaiah 1:3

Of all the prophetic writings, Isaiah is one of the best loved books of the Bible. There are passages within its pages that contain detailed descriptions of Christ's suffering, sorrow, rejection, and death, as well as some beautiful illustrations of God's never-failing grace, His long-suffering mercy towards His people, Israel, and their final repentance and restoration.
However, here in his first few chapters, Isaiah uses some very candid and forthright language to describe God's utter disgust towards His people, and the prophet clearly proclaims a coming judgement on Judah and Jerusalem. Indeed, the Lord, Himself, accuses His errant people of idolatry and systematically sets out His legal case against His disobedient and apostate nation.
The anger of the Lord is such that Isaiah calls on the heaven above and the earth beneath to bear witness to the Lord's accusations against His rebellious people: "Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth; for the LORD speaks," we read. "Sons I have reared and brought up, but they have revolted against Me. An ox knows its owner, and a donkey knows its master's manger, but Israel does not know - My people do not understand."
What a tragic statement to hear such a characterization about God's chosen, covenanted people. What a sad summary of Israel's demise and disintegration. They had been set apart by God to be a holy people unto Him, whom the Lord had promised to bless abundantly... if they would but obey His voice and honor His name. And they were to be the living tool which the Lord would use to tell the pagan nations the good news of the coming kingdom of God.
Israel are guilty of God's blistering accusations for they were His chosen, covenanted people, and yet they turned their faces away from the Lord and followed after false gods, who were made of wood and stones - and were not gods at all! His severe indictment of His guilty people is deeply troubling: "Israel does not know," was the Lord's plaintive judgement. "God's people do not understand."
It was the sinful condition of the nation that aroused God's flaming anger, for a holy God cannot look upon sin. It was because of Israel's rebellious sin and unbelief that the people stood guilty before the Lord - and it is because of sin that the fallen, Adamic race is spiritually dead in trespasses and sins and at enmity with God. Israel had been given every opportunity to follow the Lord and trust His Word - and yet they did not understand the dire consequences of innate sin and their many sins.
God was Israel's Provider, and He had guided them through the wilderness into the promised land of Canaan. He protected them from their enemies - even when they abused His goodness and blasphemed His holy name. But sadly, they had less understanding of their Creator than the beasts of the field or the birds of the air: "For an ox knows that his owner feeds him, and a little donkey recognizes the master who puts hay into her manger," but Israel did not understand Who God really was - how sad.
BUT GOD in His grace looked down on guilty, apostate, defiant Israel, and purposed to send His own, unblemished Son to be the Lamb of God Who would take away the sin of the world. Jesus was sent to be the perfect Lamb, slain before the foundation of the earth - through Whose sacrificial blood their scarlet sins could be wiped away, by faith, and become as white as snow: "Though your sins are red like crimson, they will be like wool," is God's promise to His people Israel - and His promises are 'YES' and 'AMEN' in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In the same way the Lord, in His grace, looked down on you and me. While we were yet sinners, God gave His only begotten Son to be the sacrifice for our sin - so that by grace through faith in Him, we might be redeemed, receive eternal life, and be returned into sweet fellowship with our Heavenly Father. And even on those occasions when we are unfaithful - He remains faithful for He cannot deny His Word.
How important to learn this lesson from Israel's failure... that God is not mocked nor will He tolerate the sin of His people. As members of the Body of Christ, we have been given ALL we need for life and godliness... and we have been instructed, in His Word, on how to live a life that pleases God. We are to abide in Him, walk in spirit and truth, die to self, and live for the Lord.

We are to let the Word of truth dwell in us richly and study to show ourselves approved unto God. We are to pray without ceasing, rejoice evermore, give thanks in everything, and love our brothers and sisters in Christ, as we watch for the Lord's soon return. We are to stand firm in the faith and submit to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, day by day, and we are to live our lives looking to Jesus and learning to say, in all things, "THY will, not mine be done."

My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the book of Isaiah and the many truths within its pages. Thank You that You sent Jesus to save Your people from their sins. Thank You that You came to save me and place me into Your heavenly family, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus my Savior. Keep me from wandering away from the truth of Your Word. Give me an understanding heart and a love for You that grows with every passing day. This I ask in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

June 9, 2026 ~ Verse of The Day: Song of Solomon 5:16

All Scripture is pointing to Christ and the wonderful love song written by king Solomon is no exception. It describes the Lord Jesus Christ in the most beautiful and intimate terms. He is manly and strong. He is the chief among ten thousand. His lips are like lilies dripping with myrrh. His mouth is sweetness itself. Jesus Christ is desirable in every way. He is altogether lovely.
The truth of the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ and the many precious promises that surround the beauty of His Person can only be described as the sweetest and most beautiful truths known to mankind. From the glories of the gospel of grace flow love, joy, peace, hope, and salvation. And the beautiful gospel of grace brings with it eternal life, which is sweetness and light to all who believe.
Grace and truth came to us through the Lord Jesus Christ Who is the transforming light that streams into the inner recesses of man's bitter soul, bringing new life and new hope and new joy into the inner recesses of man's spirit.
Jesus Christ is indeed altogether perfect. He is Perfect in His deity. Perfect in His humanity. Perfect in His sacrifice. Perfect in His timing. Perfect in all His fullness, for in Him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily and in Him is all the fullness of joy, for He is the One that fills all things in every way.

Let us today turn our eyes upon the lovely face of Jesus, our Savior, our King, our Bridegroom, our Redeemer. And let us remember the intimate relationship we have with Jesus as we join with Solomon saying:

"This is my Beloved, this is my Friend."

My Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for my precious Savior, Jesus Christ, Who is altogether lovely. Thank You for sending Him to be the Truth of the gospel of grace that has brought light and life to my dead, dark soul. In His wonderful name I pray, AMEN.

June 8, 2026 ~ Verse of The Day: Song of Solomon 2:10

There are many places in the Word of God where we discover the symbolism of the union between a man and His bride, pointing to the future marriage between Christ with the Church. All who have trusted in the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus as Savior, and His glorious Resurrection from the dead, have this special relationship with our Lord, for the Church has been chosen to be His Bride.
For the time being, we are separated from our heavenly Bridegroom, but a day has been appointed when: "The Lord Jesus shall descend from heaven with the voice of the archangel and the trump of God," and we shall hear the voice of our Beloved saying: "Arise my love, my beautiful one, and come away - come up here."
A wonderful day is coming when we will be united forever with our heavenly Bridegroom, and the marriage of the Lamb will take place: "And so we shall ever be with the Lord."
What a beautiful love story we discover in the Song of Solomon, and what reassurance it gives us to know that despite His long delay, the time is coming when we shall be with Christ Jesus forever. His love for His Bride and His faithfulness towards us all is never-failing, even when we may prove weary of waiting or tempted towards unfaithfulness.

Let us seek to occupy ourselves until He comes and be ready and waiting so that we are not taken by surprise when we hear His voice saying: "Arise my love, my beautiful one, and come away - come up here."

My Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I am Your child and accepted in the Beloved. Help me to be prepared for His any day return to take me to be with Himself. Help me wait patiently and expectantly for the appointed time when the trumpet shall sound and the Lord Jesus shall descend from heaven to take His Bride to be with Himself forever. Praise Your holy name! AMEN.
