Thank you to all the couple's who were able to attend the 4th Unbroken Couple's Retreat. All of us on the teaching team were honored to be able to serve you and are humbled by your trust. We shared in moments of happiness, sadness, laughter and tears, but most importantly love. God's love.

Placing God at the center of your marriage is an invitation to allow God to transform our hearts to be able to love as he loves. It enables us to see our spouses from a different perspective and extend to them grace and forgiveness like Christ extends to us.

UNBROKEN is a one day retreat designed around what matters in a relationship with the goal of uniting couples in a Christ centered relationship.

Couples at any stage of a committed relationship are encouraged to attend and will be welcomed.

I was tired of going through the motions of marriage and ending up with the same unfulfilled outcomes.

It wasn't terrible, but it was nothing like it was in the beginning of our relationship. What changed? I knew it couldn't be me. Once I checked my own heart and how I viewed my husband compared to how God viewed him things began to change.

We realized we had to be intentional with our relationship and how we showed each other love and respect.

Today I can say that for the most part things have gone back to the early feelings of butterflies and giggles. Yes, it takes work, but more than that it took us placing God in the middle of our marriage for it to grow stronger.

Early in our relationship/marriage a pattern began to emerge. My husband would say or do something that I didn’t like, or other times he might not say or do something that I wanted him to. I would let him know my displeasure by the shortness in my answers to him or the tone of my voice. He’d ask if I was mad at him and I would give him the standard response, “I’m fine”. Truth be told, I was anything but fine. He’d get hurt and the “dance” would begin.

The why behind the pattern was driven by multiple things – learned behaviors from past relationship experiences, personality differences, a desire to not want to hurt each other etc. At times, if I am honest, it was self-serving and used as an attempt to gain control of the situation. It took me years to realize my inability to be honest about my feelings was unfair to the person I was supposed to love the most and was hurting our relationship.

Honesty is essential to a healthy relationship. Truth leads us to deeper intimacy.

Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday. We are honored to be able to spend the day with each one of you. We tend to invest our time and resources in the things that are most important to us. We can’t thank you enough for being willing to invest in your marriages and for showing your spouse they are valuable to you.

Trusting God and following his lead is a vital first step. Trusting God to bring you closer together, to strengthen your relationship, and to heal your wounds is not only a huge part of your growth, but it can change your families legacy!

What are you be willing to do to break those issues that plague each generation in your family? It is impossible in our own strength. BUT, GOD. With GOD the impossible is made possible.
