In the United States, today is Veterans Day. In many parts of the Anglican Communion, the day is celebrated as Remembrance Day. Both mark the moment on November 11, 1918, when the fighting of the First World War ended. Memorials in the back of the church honor those in our parish who fought in both world wars. Take some time today to pray for the veterans in your life and in our parish, and pray for the day when war shall cease in all the world and the Prince of Peace will reign.

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

On Monday evening, we celebrated the Feast of the Holy Cross at St. Paul’s! On this special evening together, people brought crosses from their homes to be blessed during the service.

“We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.” (Book of Common Prayer pg. 281)
