🌊 WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE STORM COMES? 🌊
This past Sunday, Elder Shontell Stanford delivered a POWERFUL word from Mark 4:33-41, reminding us that it’s not about the storm around us, but the FAITH within us! 🙌🏽🔥
Life will bring storms, and when they come, we often respond in one of three ways: FIGHT, FLIGHT, or FREEZE!
🥊 FIGHT: Sometimes our first instinct is to fight our way through the storm. We try to take control, fix everything, and fight battles that were never ours to fight. But God reminds us that HE will fight for us! Stop allowing FEAR to block your FAITH! Instead of fighting in your own strength, TRUST the One who has power over the wind and the waves!
🏃🏽♀️ FLIGHT: Sometimes we would rather RUN than face what’s happening around us. We avoid, escape, and convince ourselves that a change of scenery will bring peace. But here’s the revelation: You can change your LOCATION without changing your CIRCUMSTANCE! You cannot run from what’s happening within you. Some storms require us to stop running and allow God to do a work IN us!
🧊 FREEZE: And then there are times when the storm becomes so overwhelming that we simply don’t know what to do. We become paralyzed by fear, hoping that if we do nothing, the storm will somehow disappear. But God is calling us to MOVE in FAITH! Even when we don’t have all the answers, we must trust His direction.
🔥 DO IT AFRAID! DO IT IN OBEDIENCE! DO IT BY FAITH! 🔥
The disciples were terrified by the storm, but they forgot one important thing: JESUS WAS IN THE BOAT WITH THEM! 🙌🏽
And isn’t that just like us? We become so focused on the wind, the waves, and everything falling apart around us that we forget WHO is riding with us!
Jesus asked His disciples, “Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” — Mark 4:40 (KJV)
What a reminder that even in the middle of chaos, there can be CALMNESS! Not because the storm isn’t raging, but because the One who commands the storm is right there with us!
💜 THE TAKEAWAY: Stop responding to the storm and start responding in FAITH! You don’t have to fight every battle, run from every challenge, or freeze when life gets difficult. Sometimes you just have to STAND, TRUST, OBEY, and PRAISE GOD right in the middle of it!
🙌🏽 PRAISE HIM BEFORE THE STORM PASSES!
🙌🏽 TRUST HIM WHILE THE WINDS ARE STILL BLOWING!
🙌🏽 WALK IN FAITH EVEN WHEN YOU FEEL AFRAID!
Because the same Jesus who calmed the storm for the disciples is the same Jesus who is with us TODAY!
