From Stressed to Blessed: In the 23rd Psalm, Daivid, who was under duress, gave thanks and praise to the Lord. He acknoweledged his need for a Lord who was a shepherd, prtoecting him from danger. He asked for God's guidance. He gave thanks even in moments of darkness because god was present with him in his scary, dark momemtns. We also can take comfort in God's protection and presence. And when we do so, we can move from being stressed to being blessed.

W@hat Did They Say? Acts 2: 1-4 describes the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples and others in the house. When it came upon them, they spoke in languages not their own, and people from other nations understood them. Jesus promised that this would happen. I have often wondered what those toched by the Spireit said. It must have been both powerful and persuasive.; eeven lif-changing and saving, What would you say? And to whom will you say it? The message of the Gospel is still life-changing, and many need to hear it. So, what would you say and to whom will you say it?

Putting on New Clothes- The old fairy tale of the Emperor's New Clothes reminds us that we should be careful about what clothing we put on ( or what beliefs we take as our own). Paul called the Galatians to believe that they were saved through the faith of Jesus and their faith in him. Many said that they must follow the Law. Paul asked by what were they saved. Like them, we are saved by Christ.

What Are You SAying "Yes" To? We face decisions ebvery day. Some are important, others not. Some are life changing. It is important that we are clear in what we decide to say "yes" to. Paul changed his "yes" from a belief in following the regimen of the Law to a belief in Jesus. Paul said that when we accept Jesus as Savior, we are saved. Then because we are saved, we joyfully try to please God and grow more like Jesus by doing what pleases him. Truly, this is a life changing, life saving "Yes."

Inside or Outside? The douncil at Jerusalem met to seek the truth about salvation. After much debate it was decided that circumcision was not necessary for salvation. There is nothing that one can do to earn God's grace. It is a gift.; something that we receive. So instead of being on the inside or the outside based on cultural traditions, one is saved by the Good News of the Gospel. Jesus paid the price for oru salvation. We, who accept his gift, are saved! Halleujah!

On the Road Again- Two men walked toward Emmaus, talking about the events that had transpired. Jesus came upon them and walked with him, but they did not recognize him. After he explained the scriptures to them and broke bread with them at the table, they recognized him. They were so excited they returned immedicately to Jerusalem to tell the eleven. Are we spiritually blind as they were? May we set aside our addictions to our expectations, addictions to other things and recognize that Jesuis is with us on this walking of the road of life? May it be so.

Looking Among the Dead- The women went to the tomb and found it empty. Two men, clothed in brilliant white asked them, "Why are you looking for the living among the dead?" Christ had risen from the tomb. Placing our faith in him, instead of money, things, power, and image will make us alive in Christ for eternity. Happy Easter! He is Risen! Risen indeed!

Why Are We Such a Wreck? Unless we focus our worship on Jesus we will never be satisfied. Worship money and you will never have enough; worship power, and you will always want more because you feel weak; worship image and you will die 1000 deaths as you age. Jesus is approachable by anyone. Love Jesus and keep him on the inside, for in him is salvation and eternal life.

Lost and Found - Jesus answered the muttering Pharisees by relating 3 parrables in Luke Chapter 15. All of them dealt with loss. The shepherd lost a sheep, the woman lost a coin, and the father lost a son. All of them found what they had lost. The wil, crazy, inclusive love of God is like that. He rejoices in finding the lost. He will gladly receive us when we return to him.

How Is Your Heart? Jesus answers the questions of a lawyer by telling the story of the Good Samaritan. It is the "despised" Samaritan who cares for the Jewish traveller who was attacked, beaten, and left for dead. The message was to ignore the "otherness" and see the person with a compassionate heart.

Transfiguration Sunday - Jesus is on the mountain with Peter, James, and John. He is praying. As he prays his appearance changes. He face sines, and hus clothing flashes like lighning. Peter babbles in confusion. A cloud descends over them and a voice speaks in the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I have chosen. Listen to him." Will we listen to the one who came to save us?
