Dear Triumph of the Cross Parish Community,

Due to the recent passing of Fr. Mark Moore, Bishop Lohse has asked that I take over the pastoral care of the parishes in Athens County beginning July 1. Please pray for me as I prepare to make this transition.

I am incredibly grateful for the people of this community and how you have shown me in so many ways your love, support, and patience. Thank you for serving one another so well. Most importantly, thank you for making Jesus the center of your lives.

Because of a previously scheduled vacation and only finding out about this assignment change over the last few days, my final weekend in Steubenville will be June 20/21.

Fr. Paul Hrezo will take over pastoral care of this parish on July 1.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Bishops of the United States will dedicate the Nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Dedeication Mass will be livestreamed at 4:00 pm.

On June 11, 2026, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Parishes are encouraged to participate.

My Dear Friends,

Covered in prayer and with his family at his side, Father Mark Moore entered into eternity this morning just before 7:00 a.m. He passed away peacefully.

Let us continue to lift him up in prayer as well as the people of Athens and Meigs counties.

Bishop Edward M. Lohse will ordain Deacon Ryan Budd and Deacon Peter Stetson to the priesthood during an 11 a.m. Mass, tomorrow (May 30), at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, Marietta.
