Crown of Creation Household

Crown of Creation Household We are a woman's household at Franciscan University of Steubenville desiring to spread the message of Theology of Body through our witness as Christians.

The Covenant of Crown of Creation Household

Crown of Creation household strives to live in light of Blessed Pope John Paul II’s teachings on Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body, and to help others realize their own dignity bestowed on them by Christ. We aim to live out the Theology of the Body by recognizing that we are created in the image and likeness of God for interpers

onal communion and are called to use our God-given dignity to be spiritual mothers. We are daughters of God, made in His image and likeness. God said, “Let us make man in our image” (Gn 1:26). God Himself is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – a family of life giving love – in that the Father loves the Son so much that the Holy Spirit is the third person prominently expressive of that love. We look to the Holy Family as a beautiful reflection of this. Through their relationships with God and with each other, the exchange of love between Mary, Joseph, and Jesus generates life in the world. In our household, we intend to deepen our relationships with the Lord and to build loving relationships with each other so as to bring new life in Christ into the world by our witness and proclamation of the Theology of the Body message. Blessed Pope John Paul II said, “Man became the image of God not only through his own humanity, but also through the communion of persons.” As St. Paul writes, “… God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body” (1 Cor 12:18-20). Just as one body cannot function properly without the appropriate parts, we cannot function unless we come together as one family, one sisterhood, and one community. We acknowledge that each of us is created for interpersonal communion. We aim to strengthen this communion by encouraging our sisters to express themselves in their God-given gifts and to use these gifts in service to the Body of Christ. As women in the Body of Christ, we share the profound desire to love and be loved. God tells us that He is love (cf. 1 John 4), so we focus on making Him the primary love of our lives. Through viewing God as our most intimate lover, we become the dignified women we are created to be. Mary was the perfect model of this. She showed great dignity when she opened herself to God’s love for her and responded out of love with her fiat. As a reflection of Mary, who is full of grace, we know that when we respond to the Lord’s love as she did, He raises us to the fullness of our dignity by lavishing His graces upon us. Therefore, we resolve to make our lives an extension of Mary’s fiat by saying yes to God’s love in every moment. Being women, we also have a deep desire to bring life into the world. In the words of Blessed Pope John Paul II, “Motherhood implies from the beginning a special openness to the new person.” Spiritual motherhood is a gift written on the hearts of all women. In this motherhood, we open ourselves to the new person by receiving every person we encounter with the adoptive love of Christ. Our overall mission is to develop our femininity together through our charisms. We image the Trinity in whose likeness we were made. We share in the communion of Christ by uniting ourselves as many parts of His Body. We are dignified women of God’s love. We are spiritual mothers, bringing all people to new life in Christ. In these charisms, we hope to express what we all uphold as the greatest truth of our household: We are created out of love, by love, and for love.
