Romans 12:15. We weep with our sister congregation Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as they mourn the passing of Bruce Bley, a beloved member of the congregation and in the community. We also rejoice with our brothers and sisters, that Bruce was baptized to be an heir of Christ's victorious reign in His eternal kingdom. Our prayers go out to his wife Deb and their families.

The Funeral Service will be at Good Shepherd, officiated by Rev. John Sharp, on Thursday, May 28th at 11am, and a Visitation on Wednesday, May 27th at Shilling Funeral Home in Sterling, from 5-7pm and again on Thursday for the hour preceding the Funeral Service.

IHSA Girls Track & Field Sectional Update from Mendota:

Five Golden Warriors have qualified for next week’s IHSA State Finals at Eastern Illinois University!

🏅 Anessa Johnson qualified in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles with second-place finishes in each event.
🏅 Kendall Barajas placed 2nd in discus.
🏅 Emma Pham earned a 2nd-place finish in the 3200-meter run.
🏅 Mary Kirchoff (high jump) and Chloe Stumpenhorst (pole vault) both surpassed state qualifying marks.

Congratulations to all of our state qualifiers and coaches on an outstanding performance!

Sterling finished 4th out of 12 teams in the sectional standings. Geneseo won the team title.

Messiah Lutheran Church hosted near 200 people, primarily pastors in the Northern Illinois District for the Divine Service during the NID General Pastors Conference, held this year in Dixon. "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep." - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

This verse speaks not just for survivors, but even to those who suffer death. Sandy was truly faithful, and awaited her final day with joy and thanksgiving, because she firmly believed in the hope she had in her Lord Jesus Christ and His resurrection. Likewise, we mourn her loss, yet rejoice, that we will see her and all the faithful in that glorious day of Christ's return.
