Living Word Church

Living Word Church Love God, Love Neighbor, and Serve Locally. Services are Sundays at 11 am & 6:30 pm. We believe Jesus is the Word, as it says in John 1:1.

We are a nondenominational church where the Word of God is honored as Spirit, Life, and Truth. We believe the Word of God is as alive and powerful today as stated in Hebrews 4:12. We follow God's doctrines revealed in the Bible. We don't want to add to the Word of God or take away from it. We believe in the complete work of the cross. The Blood of the Lamb redeemed us, healed us, and delivered us.

In this house, we see lots of grace and we desire truth. We repent and are renewed. We believe in prayer and we pray as a church body for those who have needs among us, for our community, our nation, for Israel, and for the world. We desire the presence of the Lord to be with us here and with us as we go. Hallelujah, glory to God!

Important announcement from Living Word:

After much prayer, discussion, and at least one strong opinion about coffee, we are considering a few changes:

Sermons shortened to 7 minutes
Worship team replaced with kazoos
Communion updated to Goldfish crackers and Capri Suns

Stay calm. None of this is happening.

Happy April Fools’ Day.

Blessed Blooms Community Garden opens April 25 for the 2026 season.

If you’ve ever thought about growing your own food, this is a simple way to get started. Plots are 6’ x 16’ and cost $25 for the season. We provide the land, fencing, and water—you bring the seeds and care.

As part of the garden’s mission, each gardener donates a portion of their harvest to help serve people in need here in Sterling.

We’ll have 20 plots available, first come, first served.

Due to the sickness going around, the Ladies' Meeting tomorrow has been cancelled.

02/18/2026

Today is Ash Wednesday.

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3:19)

That’s not meant to be poetic. It’s meant to be honest.

We spend most of our lives trying to feel strong, in control, self-sufficient. Scripture pulls the curtain back. We are dust. Finite. Dependent. And sinners in need of mercy.

But Ash Wednesday is not about religious performance. It’s not about earning grace or proving how serious we are. It’s about repentance. It’s about returning.

“Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful…” (Joel 2:13)

The hope of this day is not in the ashes. It’s in Christ. He stepped into our dust. He took on flesh, carried our sin, went into the grave, and walked out of it. Because of Him, death does not get the last word.

So take a few quiet minutes today. Be honest before God. Confess what needs confessing. Let go of what you’ve been clinging to. And receive again the grace that was never earned in the first place.

We are dust.
And in Christ, even dust will be raised.

Christmas reminds us that God does not remain distant from our pain.

Into a world marked by grief, longing, and brokenness,
the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Jesus did not come once everything was fixed.
He came into the darkness, into the waiting, into the ruins;
to bring light, life, and restoration.

This Christmas, we remember that love is not abstract.
Love has a face.
Love took on flesh.
Love came near.

From all of us at Living Word Church,
Merry Christmas.
May you know the nearness of Christ this season.

Christmas Eve - December 24, 2025 - 5:30 PM
Christmas does not begin in a perfect world. It begins in the dark.

This Christmas Eve, we will gather for a quiet, candlelit service that tells the story of Jesus’ birth through Scripture, song, and reflection. Together, we’ll remember that God enters the broken places of our world with hope, mercy, and light.

What to expect:
• A short, meaningful service (about 45 minutes)
• Scripture readings and familiar Christmas carols
• A brief reflection on the meaning of Christmas
• Candle lighting for all ages
• No pressure, no awkward moments, just space to listen and reflect

Whether you’ve been to church a thousand times or not in years, you are welcome here.
