We had a packed church yesterday as we welcomed everyone back for the first day of Sunday School and Choir! 📚✝️ It was wonderful seeing so many families and children filling our church with joy and energy.

Our GOYA also had a great day hosting a car wash. Thank you to everyone who came out to support them!

Even though they do not physically meet in the summer, the ladies of St. John Philoptochos continue to help those in need. Thank you to all who donated to our flip-flop, slides and slippers drive in the month of July. Over 100 pair were donated to our local, Friends of Foster Kids. These will be distributed as needed throughout the year. Secondly, because back to school preparations begin way before September, our chapter donated school supplies to Focus Detroit. These will help students who are in need to start the year off strong. If you’d like to know more about what Philoptochos does please join in for the first meeting on September 14th. As you mentioned in your sermon today about the importance of relationships, we look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you into our parish family!

Please join us tomorrow, Monday, August 10, and Wednesday, August 12, at 7:00 PM for Paraklesis — the Supplication to the Virgin Mary.

Then, on Saturday, August 15, we will celebrate the Dormition of the Theotokos, with Orthros and Divine Liturgy beginning at 8:30 AM.
