Looks like someone wore the wrong shoes home after today’s egg hunt.
If these look familiar, can you please return the pair your child put on to church? Thank you 🙏

On this Fourth Sunday of Lent, we remember the powerful witness of the 40 Martyrs of Sebaste—soldiers who chose faith over comfort, courage over compromise.

These men stood firm in their belief in Christ, even when faced with freezing waters and the threat of death. Their story reminds us that true faith is not just spoken—it is lived, even in the hardest moments.

As we continue our Lenten journey, their example calls us to:
• Stay strong in our faith when it is tested
• Support one another as a community
• Keep our hearts focused on Christ, no matter the cost

Lent is a time of preparation, sacrifice, and renewal. Like the 40 Martyrs, may we remain faithful, trusting that God strengthens us in every trial.

“Lord, help us to stand firm in our faith, just as Your servants did.”

Today is known as the Sunday of the Holy Cross. At the midpoint of our Lenten journey, the Church brings forward the Cross for veneration as a reminder of Christ’s love, sacrifice, and victory over sin and death.

Just as travelers are encouraged when they see a sign showing they are halfway to their destination, the Cross reminds us to stay strong in our Lenten efforts. Through prayer, fasting, kindness, and repentance, we continue walking the path that leads us to the joy of Pascha.

The Cross teaches us important lessons:
✝️ Love – Jesus willingly gave Himself for us.
✝️ Sacrifice – Sometimes we give up things to grow closer to God.
✝️ Strength – Even when things are difficult, Christ helps us carry our crosses.

We can carry our cross in everyday life—by helping others, being patient with family and friends, praying daily, and showing Christ’s love to those around them.

As we continue through Great Lent, may the Cross give us strength, hope, and encouragement to keep moving forward in faith.

“Through the Cross, joy has come into all the world.” ✝️

Today our Sunday School students celebrated the First Sunday of Great Lent, also known as the Triumph of Orthodoxy — a powerful and beautiful beginning to our journey toward Pascha.

On this special Sunday, we remember the victory of the holy icons and the restoration of their veneration in the Church. After years of persecution and confusion, the truth of the Incarnation was boldly proclaimed: because Christ truly became man, He can be depicted. The honor we give to icons passes to the prototype — to Christ, His Mother, and the saints.

Our children learned that icons are not just pictures. They are windows into heaven. They teach us, remind us of the lives of the saints, and help us focus our hearts in prayer.

During the icon procession, our students carried their icons with reverence and joy, following the Cross and proclaiming the faith of the Church.

As we move deeper into Great Lent, we are reminded that this season is not just about giving things up — it is about drawing closer to Christ. Through prayer, fasting, repentance, and love for one another, we prepare our hearts for the bright and glorious Resurrection.

May this Lenten journey be blessed for all of our families as we walk together toward Pascha.
