This tragedy has struck very close to home for us at Lighthouse Community Church - a mother and her son were tragically killed after a vehicle crashed into their home.

In recent months, almost every time our doors were open, the little boy (killed in the accident), and his sister, would come across the street to the church—to play, to laugh, and to enjoy some snacks. We loved seeing them. Their joy brought life into the room, and they quickly became dear to us. Everyone loved having them around.

Over time, we also became close with their family. We have spent time together at their home—sharing stories, dreams, and laughter. Today, we share in their sorrow. And it is heartbreaking.

This morning, on the way to church, we were met with the devastating news that Alfredo’s wife and his little boy had been killed in the accident. We were in shock.

Alfredo walked me through what happened. It was difficult to take in. I prayed with him and sought to encourage him as best as I could. I went back again this evening to check on him. He is brokenhearted.

We are praying earnestly for him, for his young daughter, and for the rest of their family. This will be a long and difficult road.

I am thankful for the way our community is already coming alongside them—with financial support, generosity, and care. May the Name of the LORD be praised for that.

Our hearts are heavy tonight as we reflect on the lives lost in this tragic accident. This is devastating for the families involved and sobering for our entire community.

Let this be a moment for us to pause and pray:

• Pray for the family who is grieving unimaginable loss.
• Pray for healing and comfort for all those affected.
• Pray for justice to be carried out rightly. The young driver now faces the weight of decisions that led to this tragedy.
• Pray for our community—that we would be marked by compassion, sobriety, and care for one another.

Life is fragile. Moments like this remind us how quickly everything can change.

“O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!” (Psalm 39:4)
“Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

If you are able, reach out, check on someone, and hold your loved ones a little closer tonight.

Lord, have mercy on our community in Jesus’ Name.

While we do not understand all the ways of the LORD, we submit ourselves to Him. The LORD is good.

We pray that even through this deep sorrow, God would be glorified—that He would bring hope, comfort, and even salvation to those affected. May many be pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ, whose death has brought life, and who makes sinners right before God through His perfect righteousness and His atoning work on the cross.
