Even something seemingly ordinary, like our mailbox stand, highlights the history of Salem church.

This unique steel oval, proudly displaying the Salem name and logo, was handcrafted by Paul Tegtmeier in loving memory of his parents, Louis and Nellie (Sommerhalder) Tegtmeier, who were pioneer members of Salem Church. Paul didn’t simply weld metal. He cut each letter by hand, shaped the ring himself, and built a piece of art meant to welcome every passerby with the spirit of our congregation.

His son, Jim, remembers helping paint the stand before it made its debut during our centennial celebration back in 1979. It has stood at our entrance ever since, quietly telling the story of faith, family, and the legacy of those who built this church with their own hands.
