𝐀 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘!

Last Sunday, we concluded our series, 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐝. We spent several weeks looking into the Scriptures to behold who God is, what He has revealed about Himself, and who Jesus Christ truly is.

Now we turn our attention toward what God desires to do in and through His church.

This Sunday, we will begin a new Sunday-morning series entitled:

𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐇

We will examine what the Bible says about the church Christ is building and the part every believer has in its work.

Before we move into the full series, however, we will begin in Nehemiah with an introductory message entitled:

𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑
𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟐:𝟏𝟕–𝟏𝟖

Jerusalem’s walls were broken down, its gates had been burned, and the need before God’s people was greater than any one person could meet. Nehemiah could not rebuild the wall by himself. The work required God’s hand, clear leadership, willing hearts, and people prepared to strengthen their hands together.

When Nehemiah placed the need before the people, they answered:

“𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝.”

That same spirit of unity and service is needed in the local church today. A healthy church is not built by one pastor, one family, or a small handful of people carrying the entire load. Every believer has a place, a purpose, and a part in the work.

As we enter a new chapter at First Baptist Church, we want to rise together, strengthen our hands for the work, and build according to the Word of God.

There is a place for you in what God is doing.

We are excited to announce that Nyrell Melvin has officially been voted into the position of our church pastor. He and his family have shown great faithfulness and obedience to God's will, and we are grateful that the Lord has led them to our community and little church.

We invite you to join us in welcoming them, getting to know them, and making them feel at home as they begin this new season of ministry alongside us.

Most importantly, we ask you to join us in praying for our new pastor and his family. We pray for wisdom, strength, encouragement, and God’s guidance as he steps into leadership, as well as for grace and joy for his entire family through this transition.

We are thankful for God’s faithfulness through this season of waiting and excited to see what He has in store for our church in the season ahead. We are a church made up of imperfect people serving a perfect God. Together, we seek to glorify Him through our worship, our service, our love for one another, and the way we care for our community. We don’t have it all figured out, but we gather each week to grow in faith, learn from God’s Word, and encourage one another as we follow Him. We praise God for sending us someone who is eager to serve here alongside us and willing to lead us.

This Sunday, our special song will direct our hearts toward the immeasurable love of God displayed through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The love of God is more than a comforting thought or a passing feeling. It is a love that acted. At Calvary, God demonstrated the depth of His love by giving His Son for sinners who could never save themselves.

𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐑?

Everything we have preached throughout our 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐝 series has been leading us to this moment. Even the messages we preached while taking a break from the series have pointed us toward one unavoidable question:

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭—and who do you say that He is?

At Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked His disciples:

“𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐦?” — Matthew 16:15

The world has many opinions about Jesus, but this question cannot be answered by public opinion, religious tradition, or whatever happens to feel right in our hearts. God has already given the answer: Jesus is “𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐨𝐝.”

This is worth thinking about.

Discernment is not only about recognizing false doctrine or obvious wickedness. Sometimes we need to examine what is happening inside our own hearts.

It is possible to know the right words, look spiritual, teach others, and still neglect the very things God has called us to live.

Jesus said, “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” — Matthew 7:16

May the Lord help each of us to examine ourselves, not merely asking, “Who does this remind me of?” but asking, “Lord, is there anything here that describes me?”

May we be a church that loves God more than attention, practices what we preach, helps instead of merely criticizes, pursues biblical unity, and bears fruit that points people to Jesus Christ.

“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” — John 15:8

Charles Stanley was a wonderful pastor and preacher. His teaching was always so practical, biblical, and easy to understand.

The Bible reminds us that friendship does not begin with waiting for others to reach out to us. It begins with our willingness to reach out to them:

If we desire genuine friendship, we must also be willing to show ourselves friendly. Sometimes that means making the first call, starting the conversation, offering encouragement, or simply being present when someone needs us.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗡?

Last Sunday, we saw that Israel’s present blindness is only “in part” and only “until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.”

But that leaves us with an important question: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁?

What happens to the Church? What happens in God’s prophetic program? And what happens to Israel and the promises God made to them?

This Sunday, we return to Romans 11:25–29 for Part Two of our study and follow the Scriptures as they answer the question:
