Steadfast love. What does that mean? This Sunday at 10:30 am we are meeting at Peniel UMC for a combined worship service to discuss steadfast love. Much as we might like it to mean that we will never experience problems and life will be easy and happy all the time, that kind of love is a fairy tale—and not a very good fairy tale, at that. Psalm 32 offers a richer and more robust account of God’s steadfast love—a love that never ends and never fails, no matter what life throws at us. As you listen to Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow,” take a deep breath and consider how God might be calling you to “let go of the umbrella” and trust in God’s steadfast love.

To what do you cling? Psalm 63 invites us to reflect on where we find security and sustenance when we are desperate, disillusioned, or in danger. Yes, we need food, water, and shelter. Yes, we need community that protects us when we feel threatened and alone. Yet underneath these basic needs is something even more necessary: God. Ash Wednesday is not about being "fixed"...but it is about recognizing that life is a journey and the journey on earth does have an end point. We consider our mortality and the mortality of the ones around us whom we love. We consider that we are here on this journey but for a short time and we are fulfilled when we make the most of it.

Just wanna share a fact why this song is so meaningful for them. Chris (vocalist) wrote this song for his then girlfriend (now ex-wife) after her dad passed away. She was so heartbroken because she had very close relationships with her father. That’s the reason this beautiful song called Fix you. Tried to fix her broken heart


You know sometimee say, "if you are sad then why are you listening to sad song?" They believe that sad song make us sadder, but to me at least it feels like a hug. To know someone out there feels just like you, to know you aren't alone, it feels like someone just gave you a big hug.

We are meeting at Peniel UMC at 10:30 am for the Christmas season.

Have you ever attended an Ugly Christmas sweater party? If so, then you know how fun it can be to see all the hideous displays of fashion that can come together over the holidays. But what happens when our outward appearance is as ugly as our inward thoughts and motives towards one another. When our inward motives and thoughts are ugly they can manifest themselves as ugly words and actions. Aren’t the holidays supposed to be about love and kindness? Peace and goodwill towards God and man?

Ugly Christmas Sweater is a 4-week sermon series that addresses ugly thoughts, motives, words, and actions.
