We regret to inform you of the passing of Net Community Church Member David Gears. David was apart of the Net Community Church family for many years and will be deeply missed. Please continue to pray for his family during this most difficult time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

David W. Gears, 83, of Worden, IL, lost his long hard battle with multiple cancers & passed away at 10:05 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at DeGreeff Hospice House in St. Louis, MO. He was born December 20, 1942 in Litchfield, Illinois.

David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arthur F. Gears & Mary (Radae) Gears, his wife of many years, Janet (Head) Gears, & sister Janet Rose (Florreich) Gunkel.

David was employed as a pipefitter for Dow Chemical Company in Madison, IL for many years. He was also a proud U.S. Army Veteran, a dedicated member of Net Community Church of Staunton, IL, & an active member of the Worden American Legion Post #564. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, strong love of God, family, country, & animals.

He is survived by his daughter - Diana Marie Gears of Worden, IL; a step daughter - Sheri Roberts of Mt. Vernon, IL; a granddaughter; two nephews - Michael D. (Ginger Morgan) Gunkel of Toledo, OH, & Darrin K. (Karen Hedlund) Gunkel of Portland, OR; cousins - Fred (Brenda) Radae of Worden, IL, & Alex Radae of Bunker Hill, IL.

The family would like to acknowledge & thank community members for all their help & support during these extremely difficult times.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to either Worden American Legion Post #564 of Worden, IL, or to Adopt-A-Pet of Benld, IL.

Our hope isn’t fragile. It’s held by Jesus. Because Jesus is alive, our hope is alive, and our future is secure.

Whatever you’re facing today, remember this: your security isn’t found in how tightly you can hold on to Jesus. It’s found in how firmly Jesus is holding on to you.

That’s the Living Hope we talked about this morning.

Throughout Acts 9, we see the life-giving power of Christ on display. Every healing, every changed life, and every act of God ultimately points beyond the miracle to the One who made it possible.

That’s still the mission today. May God work through our lives in such a way that people don’t simply notice us; they see Jesus.

STRONG FOUNDATIONS MATTER!

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙠. Yesterday we had the incredible privilege of celebrating two baptisms! There’s something special about watching someone take that step of obedience and publicly declare, “I belong to Jesus.”

Each baptism represents a story of grace, a life made new, and a reminder that God is still changing lives! Church, help us celebrate these two and continue praying for them as they follow Jesus!
