The commemoration of St Dydimus the blind …The dean of the theological school of Alexandria..

Though deprived of physical sight, St. Didymus the Blind enlightened generations with the wisdom of Christ. His life reminds us that true vision comes not from the eyes, but from a heart illumined by God.”

« God does not look at the outward appearance, but at the purity and disposition of the heart »St Dydimus

Anba Abraam, the beloved Bishop of Fayoum, was one of the great saints of the twentieth century. He lived the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).

His deep love for God was reflected in his holiness, humility, spirituality, and boundless compassion for the poor and needy. Through his life of sacrifice and service, his reputation spread not only throughout Egypt but far beyond.

Everything Anba Abraam did was motivated by love. Love is to every virtue what the soul is to the body. Just as a body cannot live without a soul, virtues have no value without love. God desires that all our actions be rooted in genuine love and compassion.

Christianity teaches us to share in the joys and sorrows of others: “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15). As St. Paul reminds us, “And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:3).

“Blessed are those who have mercy,
Who give to the poor and fast and pray.
The Holy Spirit will fill their hearts,
And the Son will show them mercy on Judgment Day.”

May the spirit of love that filled the heart of Anba Abraam inspire us to serve others with compassion, generosity, and humility.

Axios! Axios! Axios!

Our father, Anba Abraam, Bishop of Fayoum, pray for us before the throne of God.
