Cherryvale United Methodist Church

Cherryvale United Methodist Church Cherryvale Church: Loving God, Growing Together, Serving the World We seek to live out this mission by Loving
God, Growing Together, and Serving the World.

Here at Cherryvale Church, we are called “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the
transformation of the world.” (UMC Mission Statement.) At Cherryvale Church, our vision is to be a people of diverse community who are safe and
welcoming, a people who offer living hope and unconditional love, and a people who help by serving
those in need. We envision a place with doors wide open for all to enter

for transformation, so that we all may
then depart into the world to live out the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ, bringing God’s
kingdom of love and peace into the world. We envision a place that teaches how to be a disciple (follower) of Jesus Christ through
intentional teaching and through our own example. We envision a place of worship that doesn’t stay in the building but flows out into the
community through hearts, hands, feet, and voices that worship God each day of our lives. We envision a place of diversity for people of all walks of life. We envision a place where families and children are supported and nurtured. We envision a place of prayer that lifts our community, world, and individuals. We envision a place that engages in mission services locally and internationally. And we envision a place that gives you a gentle push in the right direction when you feel lost.

Jesus calls us to be salt and light—not blending in with what’s easy and sweet, but living a faith that heals, transforms, and shines with real love. The gospel isn’t cotton candy; it’s nourishment for the soul.

Come taste and see that the Lord is good, and discover how a life changed by grace can bring hope to a hurting world. There’s a place for you here—bring a friend and come as you are!

The Psalms of the Cross – Lenten Study

Suffering, trust, and prophetic fulfillment—learning to pray with Jesus in the biblical language He Himself used. This Lent we will learn to pray with the words Jesus prayed. On the Cross, He reached for the Psalms, ancient prayers that carried His suffering, trust, and hope. They can carry ours as well. The Psalms give us language for pain, memory for faith, and hope beyond sight. Christian suffering is never voiceless, it prays.

What to Expect

Scripture read prayerfully
Brief teaching connecting the Psalm to the life of Jesus
Guided conversation
A simple spiritual practice for the week
Join us for Scripture, conversation, and simple practices that become means of grace—shaping honesty, assurance, and Christlike love.

Dates/Time: 6pm each Thursday in Lent. February 26-March 26 (5 sessions)
Location: Simon Gilbert Room

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 AM as we worship and reflect on the Baptism of our Lord—when Jesus stepped into the water, was named, anointed, and sent, and when God’s Spirit opened the heavens over Him. Every baptism is a reminder: we are God’s beloved, washed, and sent to serve the world.
