This summer, Staunton officially dedicated the new Route 66 Park downtown — and we are proud to celebrate the special role played by our very own Zion alumni and church members who helped make it possible:

🙏 Zion Family Highlights
• Mayor Craig Neuhaus – Zion Alumni
• Matthew Cisler – Chamber Member, Drone Operator & Zion Alumni
• Joe Miller – Mural Artist & Zion Alumni
• Emily Brackman Paul – Blackbird Bakery Owner & Zion Alumni

We’re thankful to see our Zion family using their talents in leadership, creativity, and community building to bless Staunton and keep our history alive along the Mother Road.

👏 A big thank-you also goes out to Ryan Kleckner and Eli Henke, Route 66 Sign Fabricators, for their contributions in helping bring the project to life.

📸 Photos from the dedication and 🎥 a video clip (courtesy of Joe Miller) capture the joy of this day.

💙 We celebrate our Zion family and all who worked together to create a lasting space for our community to enjoy!

For nearly 180 years, Zion Lutheran has served as a foundation of faith and education in the Staunton community. Today, Zion Lutheran School is the only remaining Christian school in Macoupin County — and we’re committed to preserving that legacy for future generations.

The Zion Alumni & Friends group is currently raising funds for two important campus improvements:

Brickwork restoration on the south wall of the school ($6,000)
Landscaping around the new handicap-accessible ramp at the Parish Center ($4,000)
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to complete these projects, which are essential to the safety, accessibility, and long-term care of our facilities.

If you have a connection to Zion — as a former student, church member, or friend — we invite you to consider making a contribution.

Donations can be mailed to:
Zion Alumni & Friends
220 W. Henry St.
Staunton, IL 62088

Or give online at www.zion-luth.org. Click the yellow “Donate Online” button and choose “Alumni & Friends.”

Most importantly, we ask for your continued prayers for the staff, students, and families who are part of Zion’s mission.
