Silver Mount Cemetery welcomed Boy State Leadership & Citizenship Program recipient Sidh Gupta of BSA Troop 37 as he worked on his Eagle Scout project, focused on gravestone cleaning and restoration. American Legion Post 1368 Vice Commander Pablo Hidalgo, together with a team of volunteer scouts, spent the day carefully cleaning and restoring veterans’ headstones and other historic markers.

Their work honors the beauty of these resting places and ensures that future generations can research, reflect, and meditate on the history preserved here.

Included in the volunteer support activities were Denise Alicea, Exec Secretary of SMC and Sidhs family, Dia, Shivani and Raj. A very special thank you from the Silver Mount Cemetery board.

A Life of Service, Love, and Stewardship

Today we mourn the passing of Dora Arslanian, a true pillar of Silver Mount Cemetery. Dora gave her heart to this sacred ground — caring for it, protecting it, and honoring every life entrusted to its soil. Her kindness, her strength, and her unwavering dedication will forever be part of Silver Mount’s story.

May her memory be a blessing, and may we continue the work she loved with the same grace and devotion she showed every day.

A huge thank you to Scout Troop 37 and the Joseph Merrill and Father Capodanno American Legion Post 1368, for participating in our Cemetery event. 200 flags were laid on the graves of those who laid down their lives so that we can be a free nation and indivisible.

Join us on **Saturday, May 24, at 10 AM** as we come together to honor and remember our fallen heroes. **American Legion Post 1368** will share words about the significance of Memorial Day, followed by the solemn playing of **Taps**. Afterwards, we will place flags on the graves of our veterans as a tribute to their service.

We, strongly, thank the American legion post 1368 and and Staten Island Boro President's office for providing us the US flags.

Light refreshments will be provided.
