What are you looking at?

Are you anxious? Worried? In a state of panic? Is it too late?

I have great news.., it’s NEVER too late for God!

Remember Lazarus? He was dead for days… his body had started to decompose- that is until Jesus came to town. Jesus called to that dead man and he came forward: tied up and stank! ( have you ever smelled death…), but he came forward- alive!!!

It may look dead: even smell dead: but Jesus demonstrates his ability to bring it back to life- your dreams, your marriage, your money, that job- whatever it is that is causing you to worry. It doesn’t matter what it looks like now because, after all we are walking by faith not by sight: and there is still time for that miracle

Keep walking and keep looking for that miracle family

LESSONS LEARNED

I have learned a lot about God looking at Abraham's life.
Young Abram at the tender age of seventy five heard the voice of God telling him to leave his land and family, to travel to a distant land without a clear set of directions. Abram was obedient but a famine forced him into Egypt, His wife Sarai was made a concubine for foreign dignitaries- TWICE!!, a conflict forced him to separate from Lot, Abram found himself in the middle of warring nations, just trying to get to the land God was directing him to. He would have to double back to rescue Lot and his family. At the age of eighty six Abram hooks up with Hagar and has a child- not the one promised by God. Abram couldn't rid himself of Hagar or Ishmael, but he had to keep pushing toward the destination God was leading him to... finally at the age of 100, Abram gets a name change and the son that was promised to him and his wife., only to have God tell him to sacrifice the promise he had waited for.

All of these plot twists, harrowing escapes, major debacles, sins, and bad judgements; Abraham still pushed towards the promises of God.
Lesson learned: If you are trusting God for the destination: then trust Him with the detours... You will get where you need to be

Fan or Follower?

In the book of John the second chapter, John records that many people saw the signs that Jesus was performing and believed in his name. However, Jesus would not entrust himself to the crowd because he knew their human nature. Were they true believers, or just excited with the show? What about us? we go to church every Sunday and get excited, by the music, the preached word, the singing and shouting... we are happy. The service was great we talk about it for a day or two; then... what?

Are we just fans? Or are we followers? Which would you rather be?

When You Ain’t Seeing What He’s Sayin’

Has God spoken something to you; time has passed and it’s still not manifested?
What do you do? Give up? Question it? Give in?

God promised dried up Abram and menopausal Sarai that they would be parents to a great nation of people. A promise to be kept many years down the road… literally

The angel of the Lord called Gideon a brave valiant warrior: while he was hiding from the midanites sifting grain…hmm

Jesus calls impulsive, impetuous, emotionally unstable, Simon…. A rock! Ha!!

What about you? Who has he called you? What promise has he made? What do you do when it doesn’t look like it’s coming to pass?

I submit that you keep doing what you’re doing…. Keep waiting, and hoping, and believing… most of all keep walking it out.
It doesn’t matter what it looks like right now … this is a faith walk…. We walk by faith not by sight!
