The **2026 Holy Trinity–St. Nicholas Greek Festival of Staten Island** is almost here!

📅 **SEPTEMBER 11, 12 & 13**

For three days, we invite our parishioners, families, friends, neighbors, and the entire Staten Island community to come celebrate with us!

🇬🇷 Greek culture & hospitality
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Fun for the whole family
🥙 And plenty of delicious **GREEK FOOD & PASTRIES!**

Gyros or souvlaki? Pastitsio or moussaka? Spanakopita? Loukoumades? Maybe the correct answer is simply… **ALL OF THEM!** 😂🇬🇷

And while we're getting ready to welcome Staten Island, **we still need volunteers!** 🙏

📣 **VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — OUR GREEK FESTIVAL NEEDS YOU! 🇬🇷**

Our annual **Holy Trinity–St. Nicholas Greek Festival** is almost here — **September 11, 12 & 13** — and we need the help of our wonderful parishioners, families, friends, and community members to make this year's festival a success!

There are many ways to lend a hand, whether it's helping with **festival preparations, working a shift during the festival, or assisting with cleanup afterward.** Even a few hours of your time can make a difference.

Our Greek Festival has always been a true community effort, and its success is possible because people step forward and volunteer. **Many hands make light work — and every helping hand matters!** 💙🤍

“In giving birth, you preserved your virginity; in falling asleep, you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos.”

In the Dormition of the Mother of God, the Church does not simply remember her death. She proclaims the mystery of life stronger than death. The one who gave human flesh to the Giver of Life is now “translated unto Life,” and even the grave cannot separate her from her Son or from the world for which she intercedes. This is the grace of the Theotokos. She gave herself completely to God, received Christ completely within her, and now leads us completely to Him.

Her Dormition reveals what Christ has made possible for all humanity. That death is no longer the end, but a passage. The grave is no longer a place of despair, but the threshold of resurrection. And so, before her holy icon, the Church does not mourn without hope. She sings. Because “being the Mother of Life,” she has passed over into Life, and through her prayers, she continues to deliver our souls from death.

«Ἐν τῇ Κοιμήσει τὸν κόσμον οὐ κατέλιπες, Θεοτόκε…μετέστης πρὸς τὴν ζωήν, Μήτηρ ὑπάρχουσα τῆς Ζωῆς»

Η Εκκλησία σήμερα δεν στέκεται απλώς μπροστά στην Κοίμηση της Παναγίας, στέκεται μπροστά στο μυστήριο της ζωής που νίκησε τον θάνατο. Εκείνη που έφερε μέσα Της τον Χριστό, την ίδια τη Ζωή, «μεθίσταται πρὸς τὴν ζωήν» και ο τάφος δεν γίνεται τέλος, αλλά πέρασμα προς την αιωνιότητα.

Αυτό είναι το μεγάλο μήνυμα της Κοιμήσεως. Όταν ο άνθρωπος ενωθεί με τον Χριστό, ακόμη και ο θάνατος αλλάζει νόημα. Η Παναγία δεν εγκαταλείπει τον κόσμο, αλλά παραμένει Μητέρα, σκέπη, πρεσβεία και ελπίδα. Και με ολόκληρη την ύπαρξή Της εξακολουθεί να μας δείχνει τον Υιό Της. Γι’ αυτό και σήμερα η Εκκλησία, μπροστά στον τάφο Της, δεν απελπίζεται. Ψάλλει! Γιατί η Μητέρα της Ζωής μετέστη προς τη Ζωή και «ταῖς πρεσβείαις ταῖς σαῖς λυτρουμένη ἐκ θανάτου τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν».
Ὑπεραγία Θεοτόκε, σῶσον ἡμᾶς!

COLLEGE STUDENT SUNDAY!

As the new academic year approaches, we warmly invite all college students those beginning college for the first time and those returning, to join us for Divine Liturgy this Sunday, August 16.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, our students will be invited to come forward for a special prayer and blessing for the new academic year.

May Christ enlighten their minds, strengthen their hearts, and guide every step of their academic journey, and may they always remember the words of Saint Paul: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23).

🇬🇷 OUR GREEK FESTIVAL NEEDS YOU! 🇬🇷

Preparations are underway for our Greek Festival, September 11, 12 & 13, and we need volunteers!

Our Festival is one of the most important events of the year and can only succeed through the generosity, dedication, and teamwork of our wonderful parish family.

Whether you can help with preparations, work one or two shifts during the Festival, or assist with cleanup, every helping hand makes a difference! No amount of time is too small, and there is a place for everyone to serve.

Let us come together in the true spirit of fellowship and offer our time and talents for the good of our Church and Community. Our Festival needs you, and together, we can make it a great success!
