We often ask God to change what is around us while He is faithfully changing what is within us.

That does not mean our circumstances are easy, our relationships are painless, or that it is wrong to pray for relief. But Scripture never presents our immediate happiness as God’s highest purpose. His work runs deeper. He is conforming His people to the image of Christ.

The difficult situation may expose where we struggle to trust Him. The strained relationship may reveal impatience, pride, or bitterness that needs to be surrendered. What we would quickly remove, God may graciously use to strengthen our faith, deepen our dependence, and produce greater holiness in us.

God is not absent when life remains hard. He is often doing some of His most transforming work there.
