1 Sam 17:45 David knew something we must learn and never forget! "Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." 1 Sam 17:45. Remember this: the giants don't come to fight you.....they come to defy God! They come to rob you of your faith; of your identity; and destiny.....but "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10. David also knew the Giants would keep on coming (he picked up 5 stones!) He knew the enemy would come daily, because the enemy's looking whom to devour. That taught David something I call Spiritual Generational Legacy. Read 2 Sam 21:15-22. The 1st Giant: Ishbi-Benob (son of Goliath); killed by Abishai, nephew of King David. There comes a time when a Giant Slayer needs to raise other Giant Slayers who will continue to carry the torch; expand the Kingdom; and protect the vision and the visionary! The 2nd Giant: Saph (one of the sons of the giant), killed by Sibbechai, (one of David's 30 - the inner circle; protector; elite warrior) the 3rd giant (was a brother of Goliath) killed by Elhanan another of David's elite; and the 4th Giant (no name, but had 6 fingers and 6 toes - born to the Giant) killed by Shinea's son, Jonathan. (Shimea was David's brother.) Giants will come and in their time of turmoil, when it seems like the giants are winning the battle, we MUST always remember, the GIANTS ARE DEFYING GOD!! We, nonetheless, must be ready to face these giants knowing, "greater is He that is IN us than he that is in the world." We must raise Giant Slayers, who are empowered and anointed. People of FAITH, spreading faith to others; people of HOPE and people of faith believing all the promises of Jesus! Take time in prayer and surrender your heart to be a true GIANT SLAYER!
