❄️Snow Update: Hi friends! In light of incoming blizzard with snow accumulation of 1-2 ft, Incarnation will NOT be holding in-person services tomorrow. Instead, we WILL be holding a livestreamed service at 11:00 from Pastor Wesley’s home chapel. The Livestream will be accessible here on Facebook. Please help us spread the word – and be sure to watch our livestream, as there will be important announcements and a full sermon on the day's readings!
If you are wondering about this decision, please know that PA is under a severe winter storm warning from 10pm this evening until 1pm on Monday. The roads are likely to be extremely treacherous, and it’s looking almost certain that the Spiritual Center will be closed and locked tomorrow. We will not have access to the chapel.
That said, snow days are not a ‘break’ from church. It is our responsibility as followers of Jesus to honor the sabbath and keep it holy. For us, this means worshiping with our local church community to the maximum degree that circumstances allow – and although there are plenty of churches around the world with compelling livestreams to watch, I believe there is something particularly meaningful and centering about engaging with your unique local church family. Be mindful of what the Holy Spirit may be saying to our community specifically in this time.
Here are some suggestions for how to connect with God tomorrow:
1. Watch our livestream and participate in the prayers with us from your home/dorm. If you have other Christian friends who live with you, you can invite them to join you.
2. You can take some time for personal quiet and solitude with God in prayer.
3. Since we will not be participating in sung worship together, consider spending some time listening to your favorite worship music during the day.
4. Since we cannot celebrate Holy Communion together, consider offering this prayer to the Lord – or a version of it in your own words: "Dear Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to possess you within my soul. And since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, I ask you to come spiritually into my heart. I unite myself to you, together with all your faithful people gathered around every altar of your Church, and I embrace you with all the affections of my soul. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen."
