It seems I'm developing a small obsession with old quaint churches in the Valley. I got to attend the Luray Friends Meeting outside of Stanley at St. George's Episcopal Church. It was interesting to learn how the locals were gifted stonemasons and built the church from local stone in the 1920s. They put a lot of work building this out in the '20s!
The church was quite the community hub with a mini medical clinic and other outreach services available. It was originally a mission church that grew and grew. It reminded me of my grandparents stone church in the Plains. Even the pulpit was made from stone. I couldn't tell if the beams were hand cut.
