Each ornament features one of His names or titles from Scripture, paired with soft watercolor artwork designed to feel timeless, peaceful, and elegant. Oh, this is a really useful tip to share—especially because the price difference is kind of ridiculous when you’re going through solvent regularly. 😂 I’d write it like you’re passing along something you genuinely discovered rather than making it sound like an official product recommendation:

Worship flag makers — I learned something this week that may save you some money! 🙌🏼

If you’ve been following along with my silk painting tutorials, you know that I use Jacquard Permanent Black Gutta Resist for outlining my designs. Because permanent gutta is solvent-based, our applicator bottles and metal tips cannot simply be cleaned with water.

Up until now, I’ve been using Jacquard’s Gutta Resist Solvent to clean my applicators. It works great…but a tiny 4 oz bottle costs around $15. 😳

So I started doing a little investigating and experimenting to see if I could find a more affordable alternative.

First experiment: pure acetone.
❌ COMPLETE FAIL. 😂 Don’t bother. It did basically nothing to the gutta.

But then I tried Crown Paint Thinner — the 100% mineral spirits/oil-based paint thinner pictured here — and IT WORKED! 🙌🏼 I was able to clean the gutta out of my applicator bottles and tips with it just like I needed to.

And here’s the crazy part…

Jacquard Gutta Solvent: about $15 for 4 oz
Crown Paint Thinner: about $17 for an entire GALLON. 🤯

That’s 128 ounces for almost the same price as 4 ounces!

I’m always learning right along with you guys, and when I find something that can make creating worship flags a little easier—or a whole lot less expensive—I’m going to share it! ❤️

Hopefully this saves another flag maker from buying bottle after bottle of that tiny solvent! 😂🙌🏼
