🗣️🎊It's VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT DAY! 🎊🗣️

This month, we are celebrating none other than Lee Ann Heller !

For 15 years, Lee Ann Heller has been the quiet engine behind one of Temple Sinai’s most meaningful mitzvahs: the Shabbat Bag delivery program at Stamford Hospital.

Lee Ann assembles the bags: a prayer card, a challah roll, grape juice, Shabbat candles, and a small pad and pen. Students from Temple Sinai’s religious school create handmade cards that add a personal touch.

While Lee Ann puts the bags together and leads the effort, this is truly a team endeavor. Once assembled, she hands the bags off to an all-star cast of volunteers. But they don’t just drop the bags off. Volunteers stay and engage with patients, to offer conversation if they’re interested. As “community" is one of Sinai’s core values, the point is to make those who are stuck in the hospital feel a little less alone.

Thank you, Lee Ann Heller, for bringing a little Shabbat and joy to those who need it.

To learn more about the Shabbat Bag program, including volunteer opportunities, reach out to Lee Ann!

The Punim Report is BACK 📰

The Early Childhood Education Center at Temple Sinai's 4s class got their hands dirty today helping Morah Erica plant in our new raised garden beds! They're growing flowers and herbs and cucumbers with the tiniest, most adorable green thumbs ever.

Thanks for the help, kiddos!

We're gonna need a moment here 😭😭😭

The 7th grade class had its family breakfast before Religious School closed its doors for the season. Everyone was a little wistful about their 8 year journey, which is NOT ending but transitioning to their next phase of Jewishness. If this were a video game, these kids would be leveling up.

Congrats 7th graders. STOP GROWING UP!

The Staying Connected crew are cultured and on the move!

They recently made the journey to a faraway land known as Mt Kisko to tour the wonderful, eclectic collection of William Louis Dreyfus. Although everyone had a fabulous time taking in the beautiful art, it's important to note that there was no Julia Louis Dreyfus sightings.

We got a BIG ONE coming up on May 31st at 5pm at Temple Beth El (TBE) Stamford, CT!!

Come join us to discuss Rabbi Arthur Green's book, "Can Judaism Be Saved?" It explores the moral responsibilities of Jewish identity in a post October 7th world, which is a vital conversation we should ALL be having.

You don't have to fully read the book to participate. Honestly, you don't even have to pick it up to join us. The conversation will be designed around the themes of the book, but the intention is just to have an open dialogue. Let's just talk, okay?
