“Glorifying God Together” ~ Romans 15:1-7
1) We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2) Let everyone of us please his neighbor for his good edification. 3) For even Christ pleased not Himself; but as it is written, the reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on Me.
4) For whatsoever things were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5) Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one towards another according to Christ Jesus: 6) That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7) Wherefore, receive ye one another in Christ, as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.
Ponder ~ The apostle Paul is speaking to believers in Rome. He is calling believers to live together in unity and love. He states that strong believers in faith support (edify, build up) the weaker in faith by sharing the burdens without being haughty or selfish. The apostle is emphasizing to the strong in faith that instead of pleasing themselves their focus should be directed on pleasing the weaker to aide in their spiritual growth.
As we follow Christ, we must remember He didn’t please Himself, but pleased the Father.
He endured bearing our burdens, weaknesses, and trials while humbling Himself to the Father’s will and to His own by serving.
Endurance and patience are needed as those stronger in faith encourage the weaker which gives them hope wherein they can live together in harmony. May God give us unity to live in harmony with others as Christ did. When believers follow His example, God gets the glory with one unified voice! Being like minded and on one accord is our responsibility achieve what these verses state.
Praise ~ Jesus included me and you. He said, “Whosoever will, let him come”. Thank You Lord Jesus for being our lifeline to the Father! We give You glory for allowing us to lay our burdens down. We give God glory for those who prayed and stayed with us, who encouraged us with their patience and love giving us hope and faith.
Pray ~ Heavenly Father, we give You glory for Who You are and the mighty works of Your hands. Please Father, call us to be better and not bitter, stronger in faith, selfless and supportive of each other. Forgive us for our shortcomings and strengthen us to abide in Your word, will, and way. Thank You Father for Your Son Jesus who we know bore all of our burdens. Thank You Heavenly Father for provision, protection and Your promises in Jesus’ name. Amen
