Winding Creek Community Church "Transforming Lives Through Christ"
Sunday Celebration - 10:15 AM In worship two worlds join–ours and heaven’s. (Continued on www.windingcreekchurch.org)

In worship we ought to experience something ‘other’–something outside the ordinary and inspiring. Jesus taught that when accompanied by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit, worship has the power to transform, offering a taste of the world to come. It’s there that singles, marriages, families, even communities can be renewed, restored and empowered.

This past Sunday, we reflected on Philippians 2:1-3, where Paul calls believers to live in unity, humility, and love, embodying the mind of Christ. Elder Steve Herl shared how this mindset transforms our lives and relationships with others.

🗝️ Key Points:

1. Comfort in Christ: We are encouraged to find comfort and strength in our identity in Jesus, trusting in His love and our family connection through the Holy Spirit.
2. Living in Harmony: Paul’s joy is fulfilled when believers live in harmony, reflecting the unity within the Trinity by being of one mind and heart.
3. Imitating Jesus’ Humility and Selflessness: We’re called to live not for our own benefit but for the good of others, following Jesus’ example of selfless love and sacrifice.
4. Sacrifice and Transformation: By surrendering our lives as living sacrifices, we are no longer conformed to the world but are transformed by a renewed mind.

Through this message, we were reminded that our Christian walk is about embodying Christ’s love, considering others before ourselves, and embracing the call to live in unity and humility.

📖 Scripture Reference: Philippians 2:1-3 (ESV) – “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

Sunday Sermon Recap: “God Works in Mysterious Ways”

Last Sunday, Elder Steve Herl shared an inspiring message titled “God Works in Mysterious Ways,” drawing from Philippians 1:12-30. The focus was on how God uses even difficult circumstances to advance His Gospel.

🗝️ Key Points:

• Paul’s Imprisonment: Even though Paul was in chains, his imprisonment served to spread the Gospel throughout the imperial guard, emboldening fellow believers to speak the Word with courage.
• Motives for Preaching: Whether from selfish ambition or goodwill, Christ is still proclaimed, and for that, Paul rejoiced.
• Living for Christ: For Paul, to live meant fruitful labor for Christ, and to die was gain. But he knew staying alive was necessary for the progress and joy of the believers.
• Standing Firm: We are called to stand firm in one spirit, striving side by side for the faith, not shrinking back in fear, but confidently living lives worthy of the Gospel.

Steve encouraged us to see our struggles as opportunities for God to work through us and reminded us to live in a manner that reflects the Gospel’s value, standing firm in faith regardless of opposition.

📖 Scripture Reference: Philippians 1:12-30 (ESV) – “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Sunday Sermon Recap: “Transformation of the Mind - The 4 Chambers”

Last Sunday, Elder Steve Herl delivered a powerful message on “Transformation of the Mind - The 4 Chambers.” He spoke about the contrast between the old heart and mind versus the new heart and renewed mind that God gives us through transformation.

🗝️ Key Points:

• The old heart (heart of stone) represents a life disconnected from God.
• The old mind (natural mind) is focused on worldly desires and patterns.
• Through Christ, we are given a new heart (heart of flesh), soft and responsive to God’s voice.
• The new mind is a renewed mind that seeks to be aligned with God’s will and transformed by His truth.

📖 Scripture Reference: Romans 12:2 (ESV) – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Sunday Service Recap: "The Elements of Transformation" - Offering

Yesterday, we continued our series, “The Elements of Transformation,” by exploring the third element: Offering. Elder Steve Herl taught from Romans 12:1-3, focusing on the call to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice.

What does it truly mean to offer your life as a living sacrifice?
