Say hello to the newest "member" of our Community, Rosie Cotton! (a.k.a. "Rosie Cottontail" or "Q-Tip", because of the white tip of her tail! ๐Ÿ˜Š). We received Rosie on the morning of Sr. Miriam's Solemn Profession; a little gift from God! So far, she's had no trouble adjusting to monastery life. ๐Ÿ˜„

This past Saturday, on the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we had the immense joy of celebrating the Solemn Profession and Veiling of our Sister Miriam of the Holy Spirit, O.C.D.!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this day so special, especially our principal celebrant of the Holy Mass, Archbishop Rozanski, our homilist, Fr. Paul Rothschild, all concelebrants, deacons, servers, musicians, Secular Carmelites, Knights of Columbus, our photographer, Suzy Gorman Photography, and all of Sr. Miriam's family and friends whose love and support were tangible. It was truly an incredible day, laden with the grace of the Holy Spirit!

Please continue to pray for Sr. Miriam who, through her solemn profession, strives to enter more deeply into her vocation unto perfect union with her Beloved.

In honor of its Bicentennial Jubilee, the Archdiocese of St. Louis hosted a photo contest entitled "Christ's Light Among Us Photo Contest", celebrating by way of photographs the ways that the light of Jesus Christ has shown in the Archdiocese for two centuries. Of the 250 photos submitted, a photo taken on our monastery grounds by Lori Fix was 1 of the 12 chosen to be specially showcased at the Archdiocesan Bicentennial Mass on July 18, 2026! Here it is now, so you can enjoy it too! Ave Maria!

God bless all those who participated in this year's Solemn Outdoor Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel! We especially want to thank Deacon Stephen Fahrig for all of the prayerful time he spent preparing for his sermons. They nourished us so well. Like Our Lady, may we all enter more deeply with a listening heart into the Word of God (beginning with the Psalms!) and allow our opennpess to It to challenge us, encourage us, and ultimately change us to be more like Christ each and every day.

Come, Holy Spirit!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us!

We've made it! Today is the ninth and final day of our Annual Solemn Outdoor Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel! During last night's homily, Dcn. Fahrig highlighted the goodness of God, especially in His exquisite patience with us as we strive to live our lives by the Word of God we have received. God is all-powerful and all-merciful, overlooking our present faults and failures for the sake of that which we could become. Amid the weeds in our hearts, He sees the beautiful flowers. Let us love one another then with that same patience, seeing among the weeds of our shortcomings, the beautiful flowers which the Lord Himself has planted.

I humbly beseech thee from the bottom of my heart to succor me in this my necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. O show me herein you are my Mother.

Today is the 200th Anniversary of the Archdiocese of St. Louis!! Let us together thank God for the great gift of faith which He has bestowed upon the Church in St. Louis, and which continues to blossom under the special patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

May the "City of the Blessed Sacrament" - the "Gateway to the West" - be forever what the 10th Archbishop of our Archdiocese, Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski, proposed for us to be when he spoke at his Mass of Installation in 2020: "Gatekeepers; gateways to healing, to evangelization, to mercy, to compassion - gateways to listening with the ears of Jesus."

See you tonight!

What a special night we had yesterday for night 6 of our novena - the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel! Dcn. Fahrig drove home the main lesson we've been learning from the example of Our Lady, namely, that to be a true disciple of Jesus - to be called His brother, sister or mother - we must DO the will of His heavenly Father (cf. Matthew 12:50). In other words, we must ACT on the Word we've made ourselves open to receive.

An honorable mention must be made to the sermon given on night 5 of the novena, as that post was eclipsed by solemnity well-wishing and blessings: The most concrete way to listen and be open to the Word of God like Mary is to actually READ the Word of God with the simple faith of a child. St. Therese of Lisieux did it. Why can't we?

See you tonight!

Last night on night 4 of the novena, we pondered one of the most important lessons we could learn in this life, if not THE most important, asking ourselves: Are we taking time to discern God's will, rather than just moving forward based on what we think is right? Do we live our lives singing with Frank Sinatra, "I did it my way", or declaring with Our Lady, "Be it done unto me according to your word"?

May Our Blessed Mother help us to always hear the Word of God and do it. (cf. Luke 11:28).
