Missouri Eastern Second Western Illinois Jurisdiction

We are exceptionally excited to announce the selection of Bishop Marvin Sanders as the Episcopal Assignee for the Missouri Eastern Second Western Illinois Jurisdiction!

In accordance with the polity and order of the Church, this decision by the Presiding Bishop and General Board will be presented to the General Assembly for ratification, at which time Bishop Sanders will be officially installed as our Jurisdictional Prelate.

As we celebrate what is ahead, we equally honor the legacy of Bishop Lawrence Wooten, Sr. — a stellar churchman whose integrity and faithful service to this Jurisdiction will always be celebrated. Every aspect of this transition will reflect and preserve his sterling image.

Last Night The Presiding Bishop and Members of the General Board of the Church of God in Christ made selection of our new Jurisdictional Prelate of Missouri Eastern Second Western Illinois The Bishop Marvin Sanders. We would like to say congratulations to Bishop Sanders.

Today, we celebrate a historic and meaningful moment in our Jurisdiction.

We extend heartfelt congratulations to Bishop Marvin Sanders, Pastor, leader, and servant of God, on being selected as the Episcopal Assignee of the Missouri Eastern Second Western Illinois Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ, Inc. We honor God for this appointment and believe that your leadership, wisdom, and commitment to the Kingdom will continue to strengthen the work of the ministry and bless the people of God throughout the Jurisdiction.

We also pause with deep gratitude and honor to recognize Bishop Lawrence M. Wooten for his more than 25 years of faithful service to this Jurisdiction. Your dedication, vision, and steadfast leadership have left a lasting legacy that will continue to impact generations to come. Thank you for the years you have poured into building, guiding, and nurturing the work of the Lord.

May God continue to bless both of these great men of God as we move forward in unity, faith, and purpose.

This Sunday, November 16th at 4 PM, we’re coming together to stand with our brothers and sisters at Bethel COGIC as they rebuild after the fire that damaged their church. What the enemy meant for harm, God can still use for His glory. Let’s show up in love, unity, and faith as we help strengthen their hands for the work ahead.

Service will be held at our Jurisdictional Headquarters Williams Temple COGIC at 4pm
