LCMS Eurasia

LCMS Eurasia The LCMS Eurasia Page spreads the Good News of God's Mission throughout Eurasia. Soon after, the LCMS expanded its missionary activity throughout the world.

The LCMS Eurasia Page seeks to keep members of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Missouri Synod (LCMS) up to date about what the Lord is doing through His missionaries in the region. The Eurasia Region is one of five mission regions of the Office of International Mission (OIM) of the LCMS. The missionaries sent by the LCMS serve in countries such as Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and m

ore. To learn more about the work, beliefs, and practices of the LCMS, you can visit www.lcms.org. GENERAL INFORMATION

The first foreign missionary sent by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod was sent to India in 1895. Today, new countries have been added in Eurasia as recently as the early 2000's. One of the first countries where activity began in the Eurasia Region was Denmark in 1900. The Danish Evangelical Lutheran Free Church (ELFD) has been a partner church body since 1882. Other early partner churches or mission outposts include Belgium (partner since 1927), The United Kingdom (partner since 1896), France (1927) and Poland (1942). Since the fall of Communism, work has begun in Latvia, Lithuania, and many other countries. Join us here to learn more about God at work through the Gospel in this region! We give thanks for the arrival of our new missionaries in Frankfurt, Germany: Rev. Dr. Jeff Teeple, his wife, Gina, and son Elliot. Rev. Teeple serves as a missionary pastor to Trinity Lutheran Church in Frankfurt. Trinity is an English-speaking congregation that reaches out to expat families from around the world. As communications project manager, Gina will work with the Eurasia communication specialist, missionaries, and LCMS Communications to support projects in the region and facilitate communication to supporters and donors.
Thank you, Lord, for granting Jeff, Gina, and Elliot Teeple safe passage. Provide a peaceful transition and warm welcome as they settle into the community in and surrounding Trinity Frankfurt.
Would you please continue to pray for this wonderful missionary family?

Our Luther Academy faculty equips current and future pastors in Eurasia and Africa. Now the intensive sessions are in full swing, and what a blessing they are: students who only knew each other online can finally meet in person, friendships are built, and discussions sharpen their focus on Christ. We appreciate your continued prayers for them as God grows His church! With Christian C. Tiews.

Please join us in praying for God's blessings on the educators and students as they learn, grow, and fellowship together in the days ahead.

Praise God for our Lutheran Brothers and Sisters in France!
LCMS Missionary and Vicar Peter Jeremiah Williams was invited with Rev. Dr. David Preus to the Fête des Missions in Heiligenstein, where he shared stories about his mission work in France as well as his Farsi ministry to Persians in Germany.
Vicar William is blessed with the gift of language - the attendees were wondering why he doesn't have an American accent at all.
What a blessing to experience fellowship with like-minded Christians all over the world.

On June 1st, the church celebrates Justin Martyr, who was born into a pagan family in the second century. He converted to the Christian faith while he was a philosophy student. He became a teacher in Ephesus and Rome. He was martyred for refusing to make pagan sacrifices. After being arrested and tried, he was executed with six other Christians. His confession of faith is recorded in the official Roman court documents. “The account of his martyrdom became a source of great encouragement to the early Christian community.” (p. 397) Most of our knowledge of early liturgical practice comes from Justin.

Let us pray: “Almighty and everlasting God, You found Your martyr Justin wandering from teacher to teacher, searching for the true God. Grant that all who seek for a deeper knowledge of the sublime wisdom of Your eternal Word may be found by You, who sent Your Son to seek and to save the lost; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.” Amen.

Prayer quoted from and description adapted from “Treasury of Daily Prayer,” p. 396-7.

Life is difficult for our Iranian brothers and sisters. They worry about their family members and the future of their homeland - will religious freedom and life without the mullahs ever come? Last Saturday on May, 23rd 2026, they gathered at Zion Lutheran Church (SELK) in Hamburg to pray, study, encourage one another, and find refuge in the Lord. The seminar was organized by Siavash and Rayan, who will begin their studies at Luther Academy this fall, together with SELK Pastor Bernhard Schütze, Finnish Missionary Pasi Palmu, and LCMS Missionary Rev. Dr. Christian Tiews.

One of the attendees writes: "I would like to sincerely thank everyone who worked with such dedication to make the seminar 'The Heart of the Holy Spirit' possible. This seminar was a great blessing for all of us, and I am very grateful for that."
