As dawn was breaking the morning of August 29, 2026, Sister Ursula Schones, ASC, transitioned to the light of eternal life. Sister Ursula, age 96, died at Caritas in the Wichita Center. Earlier this year she celebrated 75 years as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ.

Our charism calls us to be women of compassion, courage, and commitment. We serve God’s people across cultures, countries, and continents because our love, rooted in Jesus’s love, transcends borders. This World Humanitarian Day, let us recognize those who have given and continue to give of themselves to support people in need around the world. On the morning of June 25, Sr. Helene boarded a plane in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with Wichita, Kansas, as a final destination. Helene was on her way to perform a corporal work of mercy, visiting a sick friend who was in the hospital. Little did she know the adventures that awaited her before she arrived.
