The Ruckels & Our Second Safe Home

Ryan, Jessica, and Joseph Ruckel will be returning to Malawi for a two-week trip this November. This will be their final short-term visit before moving to Malawi permanently in June 2027 to help launch our second trauma counseling safe home.

One of the primary goals of the trip is purchasing land in Nkhotakota where the new safe home will be built. We are also excited to share that we have already reached 71% of our $165,000 goal for construction and first-year operating costs before even officially launching the campaign!

Since opening our safe home in 2016, our German Shepherds have helped provide security and protection for the girls in our care.

Over time, however, inbreeding has led to health issues among some of the puppies. Most recently, we sadly lost a puppy that was born with a severe cleft palate.

We are raising funds to purchase a new male German Shepherd to introduce a new bloodline. This will help ensure a safer environment for the 98 girls living in our counseling program as they focus on healing, education, and rebuilding their lives.

Since DonorSee closed, we’ve been so grateful for friends, churches, and organizations who have reached out and asked, “What needs do you have that we can help meet?” ❤️

A huge thank you to Redemption Road Church and Union Romanian Pentecostal Church’s VBS for raising a combined $2,667 to meet a variety of needs for the girls. This video shows just a portion of what their generosity provided, including coats, bed sheets, and backpacks. These are simple things, but they make a meaningful difference in the lives of girls who have been through so much.

Another friend recently reached out to ask about our current needs. After receiving our list, they chose to provide a 10,000-watt inverter to help provide backup solar electricity for our new boarding facility, which is currently under construction!
