Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOTB). 🏳️‍🌈
As we observe this day, we reflect on the call to lead with love, rooted in the core of Catholic social teaching: the inherent dignity of every human person.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that every individual must be accepted with "respect, compassion, and sensitivity," and that "every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided" (CCC 2358).
Building a world free from fear and violence is a mission that belongs to all of us. When we choose empathy over judgment and kindness over exclusion, we honor the image of God in our neighbors.
Let’s commit to being a community where everyone feels safe, seen, and valued. 🕊️✨

Voting Rights and Racial Justice Film and Discussion: On Sunday, April 26th at 1pm, come to St. Cronan’s cafeteria to watch Phil Portlock present his 10-minute tribute to Rep. John “Good Trouble” Lewis and his 30-minute film documentary, “Voting Rights: The Struggle to Be Counted 1619-2014,” followed by a discussion with Phil. This film has special importance given the current threats to our voting rights, especially for women and anyone lacking a U.S. passport. Phil began his photography/social justice career in 1968 after seeing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preach his last Sunday sermon less than a week before his death on April 4, 1968. U.S. Bishops’ Chairman on Doctrine Issues Clarification on Just War Theory
“When Pope Leo XIV speaks as supreme pastor of the universal Church, he is not merely offering opinions on theology, he is preaching the Gospel and exercising his ministry as the Vicar of Christ.”

Tonight, we keep watch.
We light candles in the dark.
We remember who we are.

And then—
Christ rises.

In the face of death, despair, and violence, we proclaim life.
In a world that so often chooses power, exclusion, and fear, we choose love.

As Pope Leo XIV said this week,
God “does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war… [their] hands are full of blood.”

Jesus, the Prince of Peace, cannot be used to justify violence.
Faith cannot be weaponized.

This Lenten season has called us inward—
to reflect, to repent, to return to what is true.
And tonight, Easter calls us outward.

To stand with those in the margins.
To reject systems of harm—whether against our siblings in the Middle East, immigrants seeking safety, or our q***r community who are too often told they do not belong.
To live the Gospel not just in word, but in action.

Because resurrection isn’t just something we celebrate.
It’s something we participate in.

Christ is risen. And so we rise—toward justice, toward love, toward one another.
