Rev. Dr Matthew Harrison has been re-elected.

The Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, having received more than 50% percent of the votes cast in the third ballot for the election of the president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), is the president-elect for the 2026–2029 triennium. It will be his sixth term in office.

May the Lord richly endue him with strength for continued service and make him a blessing to the Synod and to the church.

The Treatise confesses that the Church has been instituted by Christ. This confession gives us a basic understanding of how the Church will operate: not according to our own interests, but according to the LORD’s desires as revealed in His Word. We believe, teach, and confess that Christ is the head of the Church, not a man. Each pastor is given the divine right to preach the Gospel, administer the sacraments, and exercise the office of the keys.

Jesus attacks any attempt to keep the Law as a matter of checking all the right boxes. Oaths are not a matter of using the right formulation. Instead, Jesus’ disciples should let their speech be saturated with the truth as they seek to keep the Second and Eighth Commandments. Even as God limited the retaliation of His people, He commends mercy to His people, as Jesus teaches His disciples to show kindness even to those who mean them harm. What better time for Erin to resume her multi-part series on “Fermented Fun” with an episode exploring everyone’s favorite fermented baked goods: sourdough bread and all its many close cousins (sourdough pizza, sourdough pancakes, sourdough crackers, sourdough Dutch babies … the list goes on …)?
