North Hills UMC

North Hills UMC North Hills UMC - Ferguson Missouri. Sundays:
11:00 AM // Worship Gathering Welcome to North Hills! We are a small congregation worshiping around "God's Table".

Our worship revolves around the sacrament of Holy Communion. We celebrate an open communion and welcome all to the table to participate in communion together. Jesus called the disciples along with the tax collector, the rebel, and the outcasts to the table together to experience the love of God in spite of their differences. We meet "around the table" to cross the barriers of race, economic and so

cial status, and all things that divide us, to meet Jesus at the table. Together we worship in song, prayer, and scripture. Come and join us as we worship together in community.

Join us today, June 30th for our final sermon in our series on
James. Today we will look at "How We Live Our Life Matters".
Our scripture will be James 5: 1-20. Faith that is real is a Faith
that works. We need to have patience that trusts in and waits on God like that of the farmer. We must remain like the prophets courageously steadfast, and we need patience that will persevere to the very end like the faith of Job. God will lead us in all the seasons of our lives if we remain faithful and follow God's lead.
This is my final sermon with North Hills UMC. I am retiring and Pastor Greg will begin next Sunday, July 7th. Remember that
"What You Do Matters".

Join me on my Mystery Adventure this past Sunday starting with 18 in worship. Following we celebrated with my Retirementt. 38 members, friends, pastors, and family joined to celebrate my ministry from 2018-2024. I started at Lewis Memorial Chapel UMC in 2018, and then returned to my home church of 45 years to become their pastor in 2019. In 2019 I served both churches. North Hills presented me a garden stone engraved in honor of my ministry which was perfect honoring the creation of our Commity Garden and my passion there including the Prayer Labyrinth. Thanks to all who made it so special and to those who came to celebrate with me.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Join us today, June 23rd, as we continue our sermon series,
" James - What You Do Matters". Today we will look at
James 3: 1-10, James 4: 11-12. We will look at what James had
to say about "What We Say Matters" Our words can build up or
they can destroy. What we say reflects what is in our hearts.
One minute we praise God and the next minute we curse God or we curse men who are made in the image of God. On our own we cannot tame the tongue, it is only possible when we surrender it to God.

Join us today, June 16th, Father's Day, as we continue our sermon series on James. "What You Do Matters". Today we will
look at James 2: 1-26. "How You See Others Matters." We treat others as "us" and "them". We pick and choose the people that
appeal to us and leave behind the people who are different or challenge us. James reminds us that a lack of unity in the church is not acceptable to God. We are not to treat some people as
special or treat others as not worthy. Jesus says to treat all
people the same. We make judgments all the time but sometimes we become judgmental. Isaac, and Jacob treated one of the children as favored. As a result they found that they experienced the consequences of their favoritism. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves. As we mature as Christians we find that favoring one person over another makes no sense.

On June 2nd I had the privilege to attend Rev Monica Jefferson’s Retirement Celebration. It was fun evening. From delicious food to sharing from Rev Robin Bell, and Dennis Jefferson, karoki sign along led by guests at the party. Old time songs… including YMCA. Then the highlight a “mama arrived in the scene with her shawl and scarf as she visited the guests with questions and remarks finally ending with Monica and Dennis. It was delightful and we laughed until we couldn’t laugh anymore. Pastor Monica gave her thanks and closing remarks. Everyone enjoyed the evening as we wished Pastor Monica a joyful retirement. Enjoy a few pics.
