"The Gods Aren't Angry" Adult Small Group
Sundays | June 14-28 | 9:30am | Wesley Room

We just had this class for our youth, and now we are offering it for adults too! "The Gods Aren’t Angry" is a film by Rob Bell and addresses questions like, where did the first people get the idea that somebody, somewhere existed who needed to be worshiped and appeased? And how did the idea evolve that if you didn’t say, do, or offer the right things, this being would be upset with you?

Adult Short Course: Ableism, Faith & Disability Justice
Sundays | 9:30am | May 31-June 7 | Fellowship Hall & ZOOM

We are excited to welcome Jill Krogen, recent faculty at Eden Seminary where she taught a course designed to explore disability as a dimension of diversity and dismantle ableism within the church and society through a theological lens. Join Jill as she shares the basics of disability theology and the relationship between ableism, faith, and disability justice.

This short course is part of both the Adult Faith Formation program and the Prayer & Care Ministry of Grace UMC. It will be held both in person and on Zoom (Meeting ID: 870 5057 9877; Passcode: 353777).

Starting this Sunday, May 31st, join Grace UMC as we “chew” on the idea of Jesus as the Bread of Life. Looking at the Gospel of John chapter 6, we will see how Jesus feeds first and raises questions later.

The disciples who are left by his side at the end aren’t those who have figured out what he’s talking about. They’re the ones who know that no matter how confusing or provoking Jesus is, there’s nowhere else they can go to find the words of eternal life. We don’t always understand Jesus. But we need him, like daily bread, every single day to sustain and satisfy us.

Week One: Feeding of the 5000
Week Two: “Give us this bread always”
Week Three: “I am the Bread of Life”
Week Four: “My flesh is true food”
Week Five: “You have the words of eternal life”

With deep joy and gratitude, we invite you to celebrate a truly special milestone in the life of our church. On Sunday, June 7th at the 10:30am service, we will honor the retirement of Pastor Brenda Stobbe. Make sure to join us after the service for a carnival-themed celebration! The church will be filled with joy and laughter as we celebrate our kids at Grace with hot dogs, bounce houses, root beer floats, and all the fun you'd expect at a festive celebration!

VBS is coming and we need volunteers!

Get ready for an amazing week at Snowball Mountain Challenge VBS, July 20th to July 23rd from 8:30am–12:30pm. We have a growing group of kids signing up, and we cannot wait to share God’s love with them through a fun, memorable week.

There are so many ways to help and a place for everyone to serve! Whether you enjoy leading kids, helping behind the scenes, or sharing a special talent, we would love to have you join us!

Can’t volunteer during VBS week? We need help beforehand too with decorating, prep, and behind-the-scenes tasks. There is a job for everyone!

Sign up at www.graceumc-stl.org/vbs under Volunteer Opportunities or email Kathryn Keipert at [email protected] for more information. We would love to have you!
