Join us for our first Birthday Bash Sunday, September 26th! If you have a birthday in September, we want to celebrate you. We will come together with our middle school and high schoolers for an amazing night under the stars. We’ll have a s’mores bar, amazing worship, and an incredible guest speaker, ! Everyone with a birthday in September will leave with a special gift as well. This is a completely outdoor event so that we can all be safe together. See you all this Sunday from 6:30 to 8! || Farewell from the Chappell Family, Farewell Celebration ||
Friends, it pains me to pen the last newsletter update from the HERD. I am excited for new happenings, new faces, new ways to love your communities and schools and new ways to grow as THE HERD. As previously mentioned, Mikayla and I will be staying in the area so if we miss you at tomorrow's (May 2) farewell celebration, we can gladly catch up another time. Tomorrow starting at 4:00 PM (at Church of the Shepherd), we're having a drive up for those who are still trying to remain as distanced as possible. This will be a time families can drive up, wave, talk through windows and not have to get out of their car to say goodbye to myself and Mikayla. This will take the place of a zoom call. From 4:30-5:30 we will be having a celebration at Church of the Shepherd. If you're open to getting out and saying goodbye, we would love to see you! Mikayla and I have been very blessed by this church and want to thank you all for caring for us so well. Those are the only details that have been communicated to me at this time.

Happy Easter friends! Jesus has risen, and I pray you have a wonderful day celebrating that truth. We've got a video uploaded and the link is in our bio, our second video from our series "Afterlife". There will not be any hangouts or Zoom calls today. If we don't catch you at any of the weekend services, we'll see you next week at one of our hangouts or online for our Among Us game! Spring Break is coming up! We're still going to have an opportunity to hang out in person or outdoors for your student, if your family finds yourselves here over break! We've got this Sunday's RSVP linked as well as our Zoom call for Sunday evening. There will be no small groups, just hangouts and we'll be meeting at the same place we did last week!

Our outdoor hangout RSVP will include info on where we will be hanging out each week, where to meet and anything important to note. We'll do our best to check weather and provide updates if changes need to be made at all. March 21st, we'll meet at Frontier Park (Historic Saint Charles) from 3-5 PM and we'll meet specifically at the Jaycee Stage (Giant pavilion). This is the same spot we met at last Sunday for our first hangout!
I've attached a map below of Frontier Park if you're unfamiliar with it! Everyone will be on their way home for dinner and if you'd like to hang out more, or in an online space, we'll have Among Us and a small group hosted on Zoom from 6:30-8:00 PM on Sunday evenings. Both of these events (Outdoor Hangouts and our new weekly Zoom call) are open to all ages. You can find the RSVP Link and Zoom call link in our Bio and on LinkTree!

|| The HERD ONLINE Week 28 ||

Week 28 of the HERD online is live! Even better, we’re hanging outside this afternoon and on zoom this evening! It’s not too late to register for the outdoor hangout at Frontier Park from 3-5 PM. We’ll play some games, have some small group time and most importantly, CATCH UP. We’re meeting at the Jaycee Stage at Frontier Park and that RSVP link can be found on our LinkTree (in our bio). For anyone that’s not ready to be in person yet, we’ve got an Among Us night on Zoom as well as a small group for you. 6:30-8:00 PM, we’ll have some fun online too!

|| The HERD ONLINE Week 27 ||
FRIENDS. We are coming up on an exciting week in Student Ministry at Church of the Shepherd. Next Sunday, March 14th, we're shifting and opening up some throw back opportunities for students! After this week, we're not going to be having Zoom calls on week nights, but just one Zoom Call per week happening on Sunday nights. We'll play Among Us on Sunday nights from 6:30-7:30 and have small group over Zoom for anyone that's still hesitant about getting back in person until 8:00 PM. That's open to middle school and high school and even if you're at our outdoor hangouts, you are still invited to play Among Us with us on Zoom later that day. Our outdoor hangouts will happen on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 PM. Similar to how we hung out outdoors in the fall, we'll get together with masks and do our best to be safe with social distancing and hand sanitizer. I know Zoom fatigue is a real thing, so for any of those excited to get back, here's a fun chance to see friends and participate in a small group! Each week, we'll post an RSVP form with where we'll be hanging out and meeting that week. That will help us get a headcount for how many to expect and who to look out for. This outdoor hangout is for both middle school and high school! Any of these links will be available on our LinkTree (Found in our Bio)

Please note there’s one more Wednesday Zoom call this week from 6:30-7:30 PM. After this call, Sunday evening will be the only Zoom call for the week!

|| The HERD ONLINE Week 26 ||

FRIENDS. Almost a full calendar year later, our church is back in person, in the building this week! We're still practicing social distancing and safe cleaning practices between services (Along with a limited amount of attendees) but it's great to be getting back together and I'm excited about getting back together with you all some day! Come find us on Sunday morning sometime, we'd love to say hey, catch up and give you the most enthusiastic air five ever. Currently, our student ministry will not be gathering indoors for worship or small groups. HOWEVER, we're going to get back to our outdoor hangouts!

Future Youth Events (Outdoor & New day to connect online)

Please note: With the hopes of returning to in person again, we're going to shift our Zoom calls and outdoor hangouts (Future outdoor hangouts) to Sunday afternoons/evenings. The first in person outdoor hangout is set for March 14th. More details/sign up to come out soon!

We were able to still create a video this week, but the teaching video itself had an error :( We'll be able to stream the video like we usually do in our Zoom calls each week on Wednesday's and Thursdays. || The HERD ONLINE Week 25 || I hope all of you were able to stay warm and safe with the extreme cold and snow we got this last week! After a special service last Wednesday, we are back again this week on both Wednesday and Thursday evening with our Zoom calls. Middle School will play some games, watch this week's video and discuss in a small group from 6:30-7:30 PM Wednesday night. Among Us will begin at 6:30 PM on Thursday and our high schoolers can stick around at 8:00 PM for their discussion time. || The HERD ONLINE Week 24 || Happy Valentines Day! I hope you get to spend today with people that care a ton about you and maybe you can let someone you haven't seen for a while know what an awesome addition they are to your life! Several cool things to note about this week, a new series and Ash Wednesday. We're starting a new video series this week called "Do Something", a look at injustice and some of the ways we can respond to moments, seasons or continuous injustice we see around us, in our country and across the world. We're super excited to chat about that more over the next four weeks! Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, so we are going to be cancelling our Middle School small group this week, but we'll invite our middle school students to join in on our small group on Thursday after our Among Us game. Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of reflection, repentance, and spiritual discipline. We'll listen together for God's voice, and seek to live more closely with Him. If you'd like to take part in this ancient practice, you can join on the Church of the Shepherd Facebook Live Wednesday, February 17th at 7pm.

The HERD ONLINE Week 23! We've been talking about Vibes, or feelings, for a few weeks now. We've had discussions about anger, fear and this week we're discussing shame and guilt. Guilt can be a feeling that weighs us down and holds us back from so many awesome things. Our guilt can convince us that what we've done is too big for God, or that we're not good enough to come to church. Guilt can also keep others from awesome things too. So this week, we're breaking that down and discussing what it looks like to move past guilt and to be concerned for the guilt others are feeling too. The HERD ONLINE Week 22! This week, we're talking about Fear. Had some great conversation with our students last week about anger and the feelings below the surface that drive us to that feeling. It was an awesome chat with both our middle school and high school small groups this week, talking about owning our actions and anger as we relate with other people. We're really excited to break that down regarding fear this week!
