Thursday, August 19 at 6:00pm Western Carolina church will begin the fall cycle of GriefShare. It will be held using Zoom. The 1st session is “Is This Normal?” where you’ll discover why your grief experience is harder than you imagined, why the intensity and duration of your emotions are normal and appropriate, and despite how you feel right now there is hope.

The GriefShare session for Thursday, April 22 at 6:00pm is titled, “The Journey of Grief-Part 1.” Participants will learn helpful goals to set while on the journey of grief, how to handle those who try to rush someone through their grief, and how long the journey of grief typically lasts. Have you experienced the death of your spouse? Life has been changed forever. Please join us for GriefShare’s newest seminar, Loss of A Spouse, scheduled for Thursday, April 11 at 6:00pm at Western Carolina Church in Spruce Pine, NC. This is a single session event, lasting about 2 1/2 hours. It is for both men and women, for those in grief and for those who want to know how to help others who have lost their spouse. If you are grieving the death of your spouse or know someone who is, please plan to attend “Loss of a Spouse” seminar this Thursday, January 17 at Western Carolina Church, Spruce Pine, NC at 6:00pm. This is a new curriculum GriefShare has just released that will help you know what to expect in grief and show you comfort and hope. You will join others in various places on this difficult journey who can offer you encouragement. You are not alone. GriefShare is designed to come along side you in your grief. Surviving the Holidays Seminar and Banquet is being held at Western Carolina Church on Saturday, November 19 at 6:00pm. There is no charge and everyone is welcome , but reservations are required for the meal and childcare.If you are struggling with grief and dread the upcoming holiday season, please attend. Please share with your friends and loved ones. Mitchell County GriefShare will begin its fall session on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Western Carolina Church in Spruce Pine, NC. Meetings begin at 6:00 pm and usually end by 8:00pm. Everyone is welcome and no reservations are required. If you have last a loved one or know someone who is in grief, please invite them to attend.

GriefShare in Spruce Pine began in the summer of 2008. I had lost my husband of 35 years in a tragic car accident in May 2007. In my journey of grief I discovered GriefShare. Our chapter had been offering two cycles a year, spring and fall, without interruption until 2015 when I took off a year to see if the Lord wanted me to continue. I received overwhelming confirmation with requests that it be offered again in the Spruce Pine area.

Mitchell County GriefShare, sponsored by Western Carolina Church, 2014 spring session will begin on March 6th at 6:00 PM. The session lasts for 13 weeks and meets at the church. A different topic is covered each week. If you have lost a loved one or know someone who is struggling with grief, please consider attending.

It's hard to believe, but this Thursday is the last session of our spring cycle of GriefShare. It is one of our most hope-filled sessions simply titled, Heaven. Some of the "myths" about Heaven are addressed in this session.There are so many unanswered questions about Heaven, but God does reveal much about our future home in His Word. Joni Eareckson Tada says, "What makes Heaven exiting to me is being with The Lord Jesus where I will be perfectly and utterly at home."
