Good Wednesday Church Family, Jeff was in the pulpit last Sunday, and he brought us a good message based on the scripture Isaiah 6:8. "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, "Here I am, send me." Using his position as a coach and sports as examples, Jeff delivered a message about our commitment to God, wanting to serve Him and others. Having the desire to do so is not enough. We have to fully commit, even when the going is hard. Football and basketball players may want to wear the jersey and play, but if they are not willing to go through the hard work of practice and all that it entails, they are not not going to make the team, and that is true of us also. We have to fully commit to serve Him despite the worldly distractions that tempt us to avoid that commitment. Unfortunately many of us do just enough to satisfy our consciences instead of letting God, who is in us, lead us to be more loving, more concerned, more passionate about responding to being the people that He wants us to be. Isaiah, the prophet, felt that he was not worthy or not good enough to serve Him, but after a cherubim touched his lips with a hot coal his sins and guilt were removed, and he said, "Here I am, send me." God can make us believers worthy to serve if we ask Him. He concluded by saying that we need to be open to what God asks of us, instead of making excuses. We need to answer the call. AMEN AND AMEN
