As challenging as it can be to do the right things or come to the beliefs that seem to be able to guide your life in a good direction at a particular time, it is something else to continue on the right path again and again. To continue in faithfulness over the long haul is difficult as the situations we face in life seem to throw us curve balls in various seasons. Jesus’ heart for us is that we would following after him for a lifetime. He gifts believers with the Holy Spirit to work within us to help us continue in faithfulness. Deuteronomy 6:4-9

GriefShare Grief Support Group

No matter what the circumstances, grief is a painful, confusing process. A GriefShare group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. At this 13-week support group program, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.

At each weekly meeting, you will view a video featuring respected counselors, pastors, and healthcare professionals on grief-related topics, plus you’ll hear relatable personal stories of grief. After that is a small-group discussion to allow people time to talk, share support, and personally apply what they learned on the video. Everyone will receive a book to take home filled with valuable exercises for navigating their personal grieving process.

Topics include how to manage grief-related emotions such as loneliness, anxiety, sadness, anger, and regret; how to cope with the changes in your life and relationships; and how to recognize what’s normal in grief and what to do if you feel stuck or hopeless.

GriefShare group participants have repeatedly shared that they feel comforted and encouraged by being in a place where people truly understand what they’re going through. And they feel a sense of relief when they’re given guidance and tips on how to deal with the daily challenges.

Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. No matter how long it’s been, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling.

If you have experienced the death of a family member or friend, you are invited to attend. For more details, and to find and register for a group, visit griefshare.org. Or contact Pastor Matthew French.

As we continue to explore the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of believers in our series Growing the Fruit, today we consider gentleness. It seems that in a culture that is divisive and culture wars extend the conflict beyond politics, gentleness gets shuffled away as a luxury that can’t be grown in such an environment. This should makes us all the more eager to lean into the work of Christ in our hearts to find his gentleness growing in ours. 1 Timothy 6:3-16 will help guide our way as we worship the LORD today. See you at 10:15!

After a couple weeks on other topics in worship we come back to Growing the Fruit this morning. We focus on the aspect of the Fruit of the Spirit that is goodness. How is this aspect of the Spirit growing in each of us? What does it look like to experience goodness from another? These are the types of questions that the descriptions of the Fruit of the Spirit invite us to ask. Galatians 6:7-10 will help guide our hearts as we come to the LORD in worship today. See you at 10:15!

Summer offers us opportunities that we don’t always have, and even as we take advantage of those things it is always good to gather with others and praise the Lord! While it is good to connect with a congregation that helps us to worship God in a way that is meaningful to us, may we never forget that God the Father is the object of our worship and not our own desires. Let us join with King David in the words of Psalm 122 when he said, “I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” See you at 10:15 on Sunday, August 9th, as we bow our hearts to Christ in worship

Today is a special day that brings together brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the area as five United Methodist congregations united in worship to God. We have adjusted the potluck picnic plans to be indoors in the Family Life Center due to the rain in the forecast. But there will still be a bounce house and cotton candy machine! Matthew 22:34-40 will help guide our hearts in worship as we consider God’s call to Love Boldly. Communion will be a part of us joining in unity to praise. See you at 10:15!
