Thanks lucaslanefarm for the loofah seeds. This is a variety we’ve never grown before, we love how big they are. Loofah squash need such a long season to grow and have time to cure on the vine.

I’ve never had any luck with the whole process of peeling off skin, washing them out and drying them low and slow in the oven. Maybe this variety will be better at that process. But for now, I am happy with the ones that have cured on the vine and I’ll be storing them in my soap room until I’m ready to use them.

If you stopped by our booth at the Ratkovich farmers market this summer, chances are you got caught up in a conversation with Allison about FLOUR. 😂🌾

I love sharing why we’re so passionate about the flour we use! We source our stone-milled and wheat berries to mill into freshly milled flours from Janie’s Mill in Illinois, where we know the farmer who grows our grain. And the sweetest part? He’s also the one who delivers it to us!

Do you know your wheat farmer? Because we think you should! 🌾

✨Where to Find The Farmer & The Baker✨

We’ve had lots of questions lately about whether we have a farm stand or storefront of our own, so we thought we’d put together a little guide to show you where you can find our products!

While we don’t have a storefront of our own, you can shop a selection of our homegrown, handmade, and artisan products at several wonderful local businesses. From farm-fresh eggs and silvopasture-raised pork to our old-fashioned animal-fat soaps and natural skincare, each location carries its own unique selection of goodies!

Swipe through to see where you can shop our products and support the amazing local businesses that support small farms like ours.

Thank you for shopping small, shopping local, and being part of our journey!

Some might say it’s soup season, but a good soup always starts with good broth! It’s so easy to make!

Thank you, Ratkovich Farm for having us at your monthly Monday evening farmers market this season! ❤️ Each month brought so much fun, community, and success, and we are truly grateful that you gave us a place to share the things we work so hard to grow, raise, bake, cook, and create.

And a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you who showed up, shopped with us, tried something new, came back month after month, and supported our little farm business. Your support means more than you probably realize.

Last night was the perfect way to wrap up the season — our turkey pot pies, soups, sourdough breads, sausage & cheddar quiche, and so many other goodies SOLD OUT! 🥧🍞🥣

We pour so much love, time, sweat, and sometimes a few tears into what we make. From raising our own animals and growing what we can, to sourcing ingredients from our local farming friends and milling our wheat fresh, we care deeply about putting real, thoughtfully made food and animal-based skincare into your home.

Every purchase, kind word, recommendation, and familiar face at the market reminds us why we do this.

Thank you for supporting local food, small farms, and the people behind your food. We are so incredibly thankful for this community and can’t wait to see what the next season brings. ❤️

Until then… keep eating local and supporting your farmer friends! 🌱🐖🐔🥧🍞
