WHY? There is lots of information about our National Wreaths Across America Day at Wreaths Across America Bushnell, FL this week. Don't get lost in the reason WHY we come to place REMEMBERANCE wreaths for fallen veterans. Our mission is to REMEMBER our fallen veterans, HONOR their commitment to our country and TEACH the next generation to do the same. Find your WHY before you head out to the cemetery on Saturday. It could just be to help others honor the fallen, it could be a loved one. Understand your why and be able to teach it to others.
Our wreaths are all perishable Balsam firs. Each are hand created every single year. When you stand in line to receive a wreath for placement, we ask that you take no more than 2 wreaths on your first pass. You can only honor one fallen veteran at a time. This allows us to be fair to others who are in the long lines behind you. *Wreaths are a donation to the cemetery and that means they are the property of the cemetery when they are brought in by truck for placement.
*Wreaths can go wherever you wish to place them in the cemetery, but they should remain in the cemetery.
*We don't move wreaths once placed. We don't know who placed the wreath that honored this veteran that you are in front of for placement. Honor them well.
*When we receive our wreaths, we encourage you to give them a gentle shake to fluff them back up from shipping. Tidy the bow if it needs it. Wreaths are placed with the bow at the top of the wreath. In ground internments wreaths are placed in front of the stone with as much of the name showing for those to view. Columbarium placements are placed at the bottom of the row under the veterans site.
*We place the wreath and we say the name out loud, we say Thank you for your service to our country and we teach anyone with us how to make these placements, to move it forward.
*Wreath placing is reverent. Saying the names is more important than placing a wreath. Take a moment to say the names of those around the veteran you have placed, even with no wreath. When we all take the time to do this, we don't need 10 wreaths at a time. Repeat this process until all wreaths are placed.
No boxes should leave wreath distribution trailers. This helps our team to hand the WAA event back over to the cemetery with no trace that we were present, except for the beautiful wreaths that are placed in remembrance of our fallen veterans.
*Wreaths will remain in the cemetery until January 7. The staff will retire wreaths for us and we will make more announcements regarding these dates closer to Jan.
