Maybe you don’t really need rescuing, maybe you just need to stand up…..

Have you ever been or seen someone in a body of water and they think they’re drowning and can’t touch bottom but someone else knows it’s not as deep in that spot and it’s shallower than they think it is? And someone’s watching the struggle to stay afloat and finally someone yells…just stand up!

Maybe you feel like that today. You’re struggling to stay afloat and your wondering if the Lord is watching. He is. He says just stand up. Just stand on my word and my promises to you and for you. Just stand up.

Sometimes we think it has to be, or we make it so difficult in certain areas of our life and it’s really so simple just to trust him and just to stand.
So today, just stand up. Take a stand against the enemy and what he’s stirring in your mind and heart and just stand on Gods word and his promises for you.

My devotion this morning is so good that I need to share it with you. Our mind is the ultimately desired playground for the enemy. If he can work his way into our mind then he can play his strategies against us. But the Lord takes care of us and provides the power of his word for his kingdom strategies to bring us life and liberty from his schemes.

Please read and enjoy.....

Because, like you, every day I feel like I have more than I can handle, I rely on God to renew my mind. His truth is my battle plan. I continue to create new trenches of truth to replace my old ruts so they will give me thought pathways leading to life and peace.

Where do you need Jesus today, right now?

Where are your thoughts falling short of His life-giving truth? Are you stuck in a negative, hurtful, and poisonous rut? What will you do?

You will use the four tools God has given us to fix our thoughts and win the war in our minds: (1) the Replacement Principle, (2) the Rewire Principle, (3) the Reframe Principle, and (4) the Rejoice Principle.

1. You will remove the lie and replace it with truth. We know we have an enemy who is seeking to destroy us. His weapon is the lie. Our weakness is believing lies, and if we believe a lie, it will affect our lives as if it were true. The problem is that we don’t realize that the lies we believe are lies. Hopefully, the lies you need to defeat are now clear to you.

2. You will create new trenches of truth. Our brains have neural pathways—mental ruts we created through repeatedly thinking the same thoughts—which trigger our automatic response to external stimuli. To stop a behavior, we need to remove the lie behind it and replace the neural pathway. We dig truth trenches. How? You renew your mind with God’s truth.

3. You will reframe. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we perceive it. We all have cognitive biases that cause us to see things in ways that do not reflect reality. But we have the power to do cognitive reframing, changing how we view the past and the future.

4. You will change your perspective through prayer and praise. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by everything that is happening, but when we’ve had enough, God is enough. Not only is God enough, God is near. We stay mindful of His presence. When we do, it leads us to pray. Praying changes our brain, as does praising God. We praise Him for the who of who He is, even if the what is not what we want. As we praise God, He shows up and gives us peace of mind.

Decide today that you will not think like the rest of the world. You will let God renew your mind.

Instead of becoming fixated on what you see, fix your thoughts on Jesus. He made you. He will sustain you. He can carry you, strengthen you, and empower you to do what He’s called you to do.

You are more than a conqueror through Christ. God is more than enough. And nothing can separate you from God’s love. Let God change your thinking. He will change your life.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?””
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” ) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:32-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

From my devotion this morning....”YOU ARE CHOSEN”, GODS SPECIAL POSSESSION”, “THAT YOU MAY DECLARE HIS PRAISES.“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Goodness, if we could just allow that to sink in to our very being and allow our minds to absorb the reality of that. It’s quite difficult to do in the times we’re currently living in but oh my does it bring a refreshing to the soul.
Enjoy my devotion I’ve pasted below.....

LET GO AND LET GOD

Every one of us know the heartache of loss and most people are in need of a comeback of some sort. Maybe you are as well. A comeback is a reversal. It is where a defeat is turned into a victory or a crisis becomes something to celebrate instead.

There are a lot of categories where comebacks are needed. Maybe it is in the area of broken relationships, disastrous finances or even a career that has gone off course. Whatever area you are facing right now, I want you to take heart. Because God is the master of comebacks, and He knows exactly where you are and where you need to go.

But, bear in mind, God does often think and act differently than we do. He steers us in directions that, at times, make no sense. Isaiah 55:8 tells us, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways.”

Being willing to follow God in His thoughts, rather than your own, is the first step toward achieving your comeback. Friend, thinking differently affects everything. After all, that’s what faith is.

Joshua had to think different when God told him how to tear down Jericho’s walls: March around them, blow trumpets, and shout.

Gideon had to think different when he raced out with a skeleton crew and some trumpets, jugs, and torches to face a huge enemy army.

Mary had to think different when the angel told her she carried the Son of God in her womb.

Martha had to think different when Jesus told mourners to roll the stone away from her dead brother’s tomb.

Faith is all about thinking differently—about taking God at His unconventional word. That’s one reason walking in faith is sometimes so ——simply because what God asks us to do is often so different, it makes no human sense at all.

But if you want your comeback, you’ll have to start right there. Right at the place where you are willing to let God’s thoughts overpower your own. When you do, you’ll be on your way to the greatest comeback of your life! ~Tony Evans - Making Your Comeback

BUILD IT BACK - BUILD BACK THE ALTAR OF YOUR HEART.

Build back the altar of your heart.

Build back that place where you come to me and you lay everything at my feet.

Build back that place of reverence and communion with me. That secret place where we abide together.

It might take some sacrifice, dedication and devotion but something that is of great value often times requires
work but the payoff is exponentially well worth it.

We have become a society of rush rush and instant gratification and instant pleasure and we have to remember that God usually isn’t a God of instant. He likes time and I’ve learned that most often he takes his time.

Think about special times and special moments in your life....don’t you usually want them to last forever? We usually don’t want to rush those times and we want to savor those times right? Well that’s how God is with our time with him.

We must reevaluate our time with him. Have we reduced our time and space with him? We must build back that altar in our heart.

In Bible days the altar in the temple was an extremely sacred place and most often the priest was the only one inside the inner temple where the altar and the holy of Holies was. No average person was allowed inside. BUT since Jesus came and became our sacrifice on that altar he opened the veil or curtain to that special space. And now we are the temple and we house the altar and we must maintain that altar. We must make certain that we have that altar space and time within our heart. It’s vital to our spiritual life and even our daily life that we take everything to God. We release all the hurt, pain and disfunction in our life and lay it at his feet. And we must learn how to walk away, leave it with him and only pick up the uplifting, refreshing and life giving breath of his presence within our spirits.

Oh Lord, I thank you for the altar. I thank you for your provision of that sacred place in my heart. Allow me to be lead more quickly and sincerely to that special place. Teach me how to lay it all down and truly give you my all. And as I learn to release those things that weigh me down I know your spirit will fill me, refresh me and give me a new fresh perspective. May I truly recognize the value and importance of my time at your altar.

Thought I’d share from my devotion this morning. It’s a good one.

Courageous people are not free from fear, they proceed despite the fear. Furthermore, worry is simply the wrong use of your imagination! Seek God for his creative solutions and learn to trust him, because he is forever good and, as his beloved child, God will always guide and protect you.

Our reality is that we are in a spiritual battle with Satan transmitting his negativity, which we pick up, consciously or subconsciously. Ephesians 6:10-13, ‘Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.’

Movie directors go to great lengths to manipulate our emotions; to scare us or make us feel sad or happy. Similarly, you can learn to recognise the atmosphere Satan is trying to create in your work environment and make a choice to take authority over it. In doing so, you bring what it is affecting into alignment with heaven. Kingdom influencers who do this are a force to be reckoned with and make Satan quake, because he has nothing in his armoury to stop them.

1 John 4:4, ‘You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.’

2 Kings 6:16, ‘Don’t be afraid… Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’

So my reading and devotion time got me hard this morning. So I’ll just share with you my heart and reflection of the morning.

Question...as a Christian or a follower of Christ, are we allowing the image of God to be reshaped or downsized?
Are we gradually allowing society and the current culture to downsize him to a pocket sized lucky charm or genie in a bottle to pull out when we’re in a pinch and dust off for our current crisis?

OH MY GOODNESS! NO! My God is bigger than the expanse of the universe! For heaven’s sake he created the universe and EVERYTHING in it, under it and around it!

Quote from my reading by Mark Jobe...”pocket sized gods don’t demand our respect or reverence. Pocket sized gods revolve around our needs and are used at our convenience.
Pocket sized gods ruin vision and water down the passion of people with a calling of God on their life.”

Oh mercy sakes. Did that hit hard. Am I guilty Lord? Please Lord give me a fresh encounter with you. A fresh encounter every day so that I’m not guilty of reducing you.

Question #2...are we just managing to fit him into our lives?
Say it isn’t so.
Lord allow a fresh encounter so that we may have a fresh vision of who you are. For you are great and deserve to be the very center of our life and that we will live every day revolving around you. That you will be our central focus.

Thank you Lord that even though you are bigger than the expanse of the universe you still love, adore and care enough about me to scoop me up in the palm of your hand and whisper how much you love me. Thank you for caring enough to refresh my focus to see how vast, how high and how wide you are and that your love for me has no end.

Just a personal side note here...it’s not just preachers, pastors and evangelists that have a “God calling” on their life. If you call yourself a Christian or a follower of Christ, then you too have a calling of God on your life. You and I are called by God and we are directed by his word to share him and to share his love.

So I encourage you today that maybe you might need to reset your focus. Maybe you need to reflect on the current proximity that you’ve placed God in in your life. We all need fresh focus and fresh encounters with the Lord most likely every day. His word tells us that his mercy is new every day. So thank you Lord for a refreshing encounter with you today.

Just for fun...try inserting your own name as you read this.......
“O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:27-31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Just thinking and praying this morning...thinking of the current status of our nation in this stay home pandemic and thinking of our president, government leaders, and medical professionals.
No matter what political side we’re on I think we’re all frustrated with the guidelines and stay home and don’t touch and social distancing.....BUT what if we started genuinely praying for our leadership that’s making these decisions about what we should do ❓🤔

What if we started praying about who has their ear. You know each of us has someone close to us that we value and who has our ear. Someone most likely we always value what they have to say. What if we start strategically praying for those leaders to have the ear of Holy Spirit. Or the Holy Spirit to have their ear.

Our President is surrounded by a council of many people giving him advice. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will filter out and sift like wheat the advice of the council surrounding him and bring to the surface the valid and profitable advice that is best for our benefit. The best for our health and the best for our economy. My the devices of the enemy be cast down and destroyed and may the strategy of the Holy Spirit prevail in our nation and our lives. May the weapon of our warfare be the breakthrough power of the Holy Spirit breaking through the strongholds of fear and bring to light the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord.

May the Lord show his glorious power through the enlightenment of wisdom and knowledge gifted to our president and government leaders. May they come to know the realization of the magnificent life giving power of the Holy Spirit. On this resurrection Sunday May we all realize that Jesus’ sacrifice provided his Holy Spirit to come dwell among us. Now may that spirit increase as fear subsides.

We stand on the promises of your word Lord. May our hearts and minds be guided by your Spirit.

“Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance, the people fall [and go off course like a ship without a helm], But in the abundance of [wise and godly] counselors there is victory.”

I am reminded of this scripture this morning...as things around us seem to be causing so much anxiety, gloom, despair, sickness and death. It is very easy to let our minds spiral out of control and go with what the world wants to scare us with and bring anxious thoughts of financial crisis and food limitations and toilet paper shortage.
BUT...when my mind starts to struggle I must go to that which I know and to that which I’m certain and that is Gods word. Because even when I don’t see it, I know that HE IS working for me and on my behalf. His word is full of too many promises that provide that glimmer of hope for me and for all of us.
So put the brakes on your mind today and remember this one particular promise....

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

“In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.””
