In Nehemiah 2:4, the king asks Nehemiah, “What is it you want?” Before answering, Nehemiah prays. The Shine Guide offers some prompts on page 38 that invite us to sit with that same question this week and bring what surfaces to God.

Take a few minutes to ask yourself, What is it I want? Talk honestly with God about your hopes, needs, and questions. Page 38 of the Shine Guide encourages you to return to this prayer several times during the week. Making room to name what’s on our hearts can help us pay attention to what we’re asking God for—and trust him with the answer.

If you don't have a physical guide, use the digital version at the link below or pick up your own this Sunday!

What a joy to be invited into what God is doing! For Jake and Britta, joining Jesus in his mission isn’t a burden; it’s a gift. Hear their story, discover the joy of saying yes to God, and remember: you’re invited, too. Let’s SHINE together!

People are hurting, struggling, and in need of hope. What if God is calling us to do more than notice? Nehemiah saw a need and chose to act. What might change if we did the same? Allow God to move you toward purpose — catch the message at wschurch.org/watch.

ONE WEEK until Advance Commitment Night for Shine!

Sunday, November 1, at 5:00 PM in the Worship Center, we’ll gather to pray over our church’s future and offer our Shine commitments to God. It’s a defining moment in our 125-year story, and we want EVERY Westsider there!

Join us for worship, prayer, and celebration, followed by bonfires, a s’more bar, and apple c***r. Ready to commit early? Bring your commitment. Still praying about it? Come anyway... we’d love to have you.

Register today at wschurch.org/acn.

For 125 years, God has been at work through West Side. As we celebrate that story, we’re also looking ahead to the next 25 years—and asking how God wants to work through us.

Shine is a discipleship journey and a way for us to respond together. It’s about growing in devotion to Jesus, living generously, and helping more people know and follow him. We’ll consider not only what we give, but how we use our time, gifts, influence, and resources for God’s purposes.

As you begin this journey, ask: God, what do you want to do in me? What do you want to do through me?
